Is there any chance we could trade Hoglander for a change of scenery swap?

eg McMichael or Tomasino from the same draft class have had a hard time sticking with their main clubs. Any chance that could be had?

It’s a decision they need to make this off-season. Either commit to giving Hoglander a shot at a top-9 role on the NHL roster or trade him.

If he has trade value, my guess is they'll package him with one of the contracts they're trying to get out of, with the top priority being Boesser. The return would be a buryable contract (or one that's already buried).

Would the the likes of Weegar or Zub potentially be available?

Weegar has been slow to adjust to his new team by all accounts, and has a major 8 year extension kicking in at 6+m AAV. They've also been reportesly interested in Boeser perhaps to boost their anemic offence. Is there any room for a deal there? Weegar undoubtedly the better player but if Treliving and co are unsure about his fit perhaps this would be an opportunity to get out of that long term contract before it's immovable.

Zub is a great dman, but in addition to Chabots cap the Sens will need to get in healthy raise for Sanderson next year and a mega increase for Chchryun the following year. Will the budget conscious team be inclined to keep Zub at 4.6m AAV?

I don't think that either team would trade one of their young centers for Hoglander straight up.

It's the Canucks fault for loading up on way too many wingers and not drafting enough Dmen and centers with at least some high end potential.

The Flames just signed Matthew Coronato but already Boeser would be redundant for the Flames.

Resigning Boeser was a mistake and this scenario seems more likely in reference to Hoglander who is a winger some team might actually want.

Hoglander to Winnipeg. It’s basically the only team he plays well against.

For Logan Stanley would be a funny trade. Both need changes of scenery.

Weegar’s non counting stars are outstanding. He’d be awesome if you could get him cheaply. He’s got like a 60%xG and is very high in GF% as well.

If the defence next year is Hughes, Weegar, Hronek that’s 3 capable of anchoring a pair. Just need to complimentary pieces.

Fair enough, that might be the case in the future once Cononato is an impact player but as it stands in a down year Boeser would be tied for 5th on the Flames in points or third in ppg pace.

Sure but Boeser wouldn't be an improvement on the Flames top 3 RW right now either and they certainly aren't going to gift us Weegar for him either..

I don't think so either I wouldn't, but can't discount old school GMs like Poile making such moves lol.

Nashville seems to give up on youngsters early or don't fit with their style. With the likes of youngsters Parssinen, Glass and Novak playing meaningful roles this year, while Tomasino couldn't crack the starting roster and was kept down on that farm for most of the year for seasoning (up recently due to injuries plus TDL spots opening up) you do wonder if they view him as a long player.

While he's historically a center I believe with the Preds he's mostly played at wing, which again could be how they view him as a player?

I don't think Hoglander would necessarily fetch Tomasino but I wouldn't be entirely surprised either?

Re: Hoglander change of scenery trade

Sounds like the plan is still to try and trade Boeser and/or Garland. Assuming that’s the case they will need players like Hoglander they can plug in.

From all accounts he’s been dominating in the AHL. Unless they can swap him for a good RHD I can’t see it.

I really think that msot people would prefer Tomasino and it's not even clsoe and I think Nashville might be wary trading him after the Eeli Tolvanen istake.

Also while Tomasino could end up being a very good winger he also still can play center and I don't see Nashville doing that trade at all.

Same with the Capitals and their old team Connor McMichael is very much part of their future.

I really wanted the Canucks to make a run at Zub pre-extension but highly doubt he's available now, teams rarely trade a player prior to an extension kicking in.

If Höglander is a change of scenery trade candidate—is Podkolzin too?

New management has no loyalty to former 1st round picks.

We're out on Livingstone

that sucked

the canucks probably didn't promise him an nhl game, which kinda says a lot if his skating needs that much work

Curious where he ends up, if it's truly about opportunity, because it seems there's heaps of it playing for Vancouver.

I can't imagine this is the reason - getting a guy in there for some meaningless games wouldn't be an issue.

Yeah, they've obviously promised games to McDonough and I'm guessing Hirose too if that ever gets announced.
