It's going to be a 'sellers market' for just about every position on the ice, but particularly for depth defenders and scoring wingers. And the Canucks have a few of both.

Boeser should fetch a decent return; and depth defenders like Soucy and Forbort will probably attract some interest.

If the Canucks want to drill down deeper at the TDL, there might be some takers for Suter, Blueger, Hoglander or even Joshua. Although I think they intend to keep both Hoglander and Joshua.

And I see Canucks Army has come up with six potential trade destinations for Thatcher Demko, now that Lankinen has signed a long-term extension. So that will be something to watch.

Finally EP40. Highly unlikely you could ever trade an $11.7m, long-term contract at the trade deadline. That's more likely an off-season move. Although you never know.

Apparently the Canes have determined that Rantanen isn't going to sign there before July 1st, so they may try to flip his big contract in the next couple of weeks.

Finally EP40. Highly unlikely you could ever trade an $11.7m, long-term contract at the trade deadline. That's more likely an off-season move. Although you never know.

I pray they can get it done prior to his NMC kicking in. Maybe a trip to Winnipeg, they will want a long term potential star player and contract. Take back futures, maybe 1rst rnd picks for 2026 and 2027 plus a prospect and an older player(?) They will have cap space. Florida might come calling now that Tkachuk is out.

strip it all down except hughes. and the guys that resigned longterm. stock up in the offseason and come back next year with hopefully a better top 6 guys who can put the puck in the net. let tocheet go. find another coach.

I am pretty sure the team is mostly support type players (3rd & 4th liners) already so moving a total of 29 goals (BB & EP) off the roster and replacing them with 25 goals (Lekkerimaki and Karlsson) and while saving over 17 million. shouldn't be hard.

FYI, if the Canucks had 10 points or 5 wins less they would be in 28th in the league. Or 10 fewer OTL's

I like your optimism. But if they can't get Hughes back at 100 percent, the only place they'll be heading in April is to the golf course.

If the season ended today, they'd all be heading home instead of to the Cup playoffs.

Agreed. But if you always look for the worst case Ontario, you'll find that sucker. Let life disappoint you, not some hockey team. People change every day, players not so much. If you top out at a PPG in the CHL/College, that's probably your top gear in the NHL. But it depends on the person. Can people change? Yeah, but only if they want to. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse.

Would be surprised if they paid a premium asset to a RD since wallinder is coming (mid to late round pick or a soucy type sure).

That lineup also shows if Petey can get somewhat on track offensively then you’re one addition and one surprise away from feeling pretty decent about the forward group.

I knew I was forgetting one guy. Yeah, like I think at this point (being it our lowest) we are 1 more correct move away from something special.

Classic Vancouver, great hockey team, great Western Conference. But I think we have the most correct group of guys. Just need that last guy. As I said before we made the trade for Chytil, I think he could be that player one day but not this year.

Honestly I'd think about a Hertl for Boeser and Chytil kind of deal. But Vegas got to the punch first.

That was kind of the idea to spread out opinions into more than just a yes or no. That is also why more than one can be selected.

I think you are correct.
I have my opinions as why but some are just out there in plain sight.

Allvin stating he is not mature, a deadly personal insult especially when made public. He is a 7 year NHL veteran. It seems that players that really want to win that are on bad teams all need to grow up.

The Carolina trade threat and deadline to pressure him into signing when he wanted to wait to see where the team was heading. The summer interview he said he was willing to wait to see and the team didn't need to sign him just then, they had another 6 months or longer, he was still a RFA.

Has anyone ever made a decision that they regret later?

A three way trade or a trade for an asset then trade that asset.

If Carolina has any doubt about Rantenen signing there then trading for a distressed asset like Pettersson with mucho upside potential looks better than getting nothing in return.
Rantenen could then be packaged back to Colorado for most of what Carolina traded to them for the return of their player at a much reduce cost and big cap savings.

I think it would be an almost perfect result for everyone, teams and players.
Colorado gets their player and friend back, it was always known that it was the current cap situation that was the reason for the trade. He might even sign for a little less to have long term security.

Carolina gets their possible franchise player in Pettersson and at a reduced cap hit especially if he rebounds

Canucks get two young centers in Necas and Drury and out from under the cloud of controversy.

All three GMs look like they did a great job considering their circumstances.

The Canucks might have to add some bling to make it look shinier, maybe Karlsson? Not my first choice but.

Trade Boeser if a deal can't be done, playoffs or not. I'd like to see the team make a splash in free agency for at least one top-six forward as part of the retool to take a shot next season.
