Only way this makes any sense is if it’s liljegren along with pieces for a retained miller + Schenn.
Liljegren aside from not being overly physical has a lot of what Toronto has been looking for in a RHD for twenty years.

You don't have the pieces for a retained Miller, Liljegren or no.

On an island
I think Rutherford knows JT is his best player and the leader of the lockeroom.
This creates an awkward situation with Horvat - who he's trying to deal

Horvat + Motte for Mikheyev + Liljegren + 1st

Where is Myers a cap dump? You clearly don’t know very much about this player.
Hes a cap dump because at his price point he doesn't do enough on the ice to warrant a positive impact. Thats not even taking into account the leafs cap and where he would sit in their depth chart and what he would provide on ice.

Value may be fair but doesn't address the leafs needs very well.

He’s definitely not a world beater but he does lead our team in +/- and logs big minutes on a pretty good team since we got a proper coach. Since December we have been a top 5 team in the league and Myers is a big part of that. He would be a guy you’d want in a playoff series as he is 6’8 and not scared to throw that around. I have not been a fan of him since he’s been here but since the coaching change he has been worth his contact this year.

Thats perfectly fine but to the leafs and their cap structure he would be a cap dump. Its similar to how kerfoot is a very good player but to Canucks fans they considered him a cap dump.

This could very well be the case where TML calls to inquire about Motte and Canucks let TML know they like Liljegren. I don't think this indicates any willingness for TML to trade him or at the very least for Motte, but just that Canucks expressed interest. For all we know TML is not interested in moving him in this kind of deal.
