2 assist game vs PG, even though it’s only registered as 1 on the WHL scoresheet. Who writes up these score sheets by the way? They seemingly always have mistakes, are the stat/score keepers even watching the game?

He also hit the post and was just stoped by the goalie on another shot in the last minute. Overall had a good game against a team with a pretty good top line that he was matched up with.

The Giants as a team are pretty awful though, and are missing a first line RW to play with Honzek and Thorpe. The defense outside of Leslie and Anderson can’t move the puck at all and are always retreating instead of attempting to keep it in and cycle it. It’s a shame he wasn’t on a better team where it could be really seen how much more he could score.

Funny that the other assist was credited to 5'11 RHD Dylan Anderson. It's pretty obvious they only focus on the jersey numbers, as Honzek's #29 can look similar to #21 (Andreson) on a quick glance.

It's embarrassing how often this happens in the WHL.

They'll fix the error, but don't know when the error will be fixed

Pretty sure the refs tell the scorekeepers who got the goal and assists. In pro leagues it’s double-checked on video afterwards and corrected if necessary but I don’t know if they do that in the WHL too.

He looked pretty raw but good hockey sense & offensive skills. Great vision/anticipation on the first assist & the interception when he rang it off the post. I liked his game.

I was curious to see Leslie & man does he ever have tunnel vision when he gets the puck.

It is so annoying that the Slovak league is full of lame north american ECHL players. He could be playing against men in Slovakia, instead of in some weird junior league.

He sure could.

He did that last year, and decided himself to leave for the WHL

I'm sure he would have stayed if he had gotten more ice time. These american and canadian players are sucking away opportunities from young Slovak players. It is not surprising that they leave the Slovak league and go abroad :(

That would make sense if there were more American and Canadian players on Dukla Trenchin.

There are actually less Canadians and Americans on the team this year compared to last year, so there goes that whole argument. There is 1 forward and 1 D. There has been a total of 14 games played by American players since 2017

It was announced at the beginning of the summer that he would be leaving Trenčín. So your point makes no sense. I doubt he had any inside knowledge of who they were going to sign for next season.

You've literally stated that American and Canadian players are the reason that the young players are leaving.

3 American players have played for Dukla since 2017, playing a whopping 14 games.

There are 2 Canadian players on the roster this year.

Your point makes no sense, as there is evidence that it's complete bullshit. The team he would play on has 2 NA players.

Samuel decided to leave not because of the lack of IT, but because he wanted to play the draft season on NA. He wanted to improve aspects of the game that he couldn't improve in Slovakia. Mainly movement and skating. He also wanted to play faster hockey, the Slovak league is a really slow league at times. It's sad that the conditions in Slovakia are so poor but it's a fact.

Last season when Honzek played for Trenčín there were 3 Canadians. Not sure why you are talking about 2017 or this season. When I mentioned the lame canadian and american players I meant the whole league in general, not just Dukla. 15% of Slovak league players are Canadian or American. This is not good.

Towards the end of the season he was only playing on the third or fourth line. There were PO games where he only played 18 seconds.

Get real. The Slovak men's league is much better quality than a canadian junior league. I doubt that Honzek would average 1.3 points per game in the Slovak men's league.

He looks better than Slaf, here I said it.

Slaf did not play against kids

I'm buying into the Honzek hype. He's huge and skates well, but his vision and ability to make plays is really underrated.

My question is - I know he plays wing in Vancouver, but what's stopping him from being a center at the next level? He has all the tools to be an NHL center IMO. If you believe in him as a center, I think Honzek is well worth a top 10 pick.

Agreed. Even as a wing, though, I could see a team "reaching" for him in the top 15. I want the Wings to draft a center with their 10-12th overall, but I would honestly be OK with them drafting Honzek at that spot as a winger. His skillset is so translatable to the NHL. I'll be surprised if he isn't at least a 2nd liner at the NHL level.

I am so glad we have more talents in the last 2 years. Also the pressure to succeed will be little bit spread out between all of the players and not only on single player as it was in the last years (examples Jurco, Dano, Reway etc.)
