Another 3 point night for Honzek. Puts him at 13 pts in 11 games. He’s not even playing with Thorpe or Ostapchuk, he’s driving his own line. How high are we talking if he keeps this up? The goal:

@alko can you change the title, he no longer plays in Trencin.

Probably like a late 1st round if he keeps it up

Great goal last night and super clutch goal on Saturday. Really coming into his own. As mentioned above mostly playing away from Ostapchuk with Lipinski and Semeniuk who are decent players but not stars.

2+1 in this past game. Including tying the game at the last second. 10 pts in 10 games now. Just for reference Nate Danielson has 10 pts in 12 games and is #11 on Bob McKenzie’s list. Does Honzek get an A ranking in CS upcoming list ?

It doesn't really work this way but he is off to a good start but is a late birthday and has decent but not great skating early second rounder maybe.

damn, he's big. decent speed too.

Big C's drafted from the CHL this year....

Geekie @ 11 was slightly over a point per game.
Gaucher @ 22 was slightly below a point per game.

I think if Honzek continues his scoring he could be a top 15 pick. Full disclaimer: I've never seen him play.
Well yes but this draft is stacked in top 15 so I thinking more of 15-32

My personal feeling which lasts more than a year is

The most underrated Slovak prospect : Samuel Honzek
The most overrated Slovak prospect : Jakub Chromiak

Honestly, I´m much higher on Honzek than on Chromiak. Probably as one of the few because I´ve seen many posts or rankings during the past year that said Honzek won´t be even drafted and Chromiak is a future top-10 pick. In my opinion, completely out of line, both. Jakub Chromiak is a player I never was high on him, solid prospect but nowhere near to Nemec as one might think.

Honzek is more promising player in my eyes and actually he was much better than Chromiak in Trencin when they were both 16. My prediction is Honzek will be drafted higher in 2023 than Chromiak in 2024 and maybe it won´t even be close...

Weird comparison here between a forward and a Dman don't you think?

Well, I have to admit that I underrated Honzek. I saw, he scored many goals in Extraliga, but did not really see any special skills. Even at WJC, he was below average, but it looks like he worked on his skating a bit. Definitely did not expect such explosiveness.
I was expecting 50 pts season for him. Great to see him thrive and looking forward to real WJC.

The late birthday isn’t really relevant in that he’s only really 3-4 months older, sometimes less, than many of the top prospects who tend to be born in the first few months. Danielson is also a late 04.

What doesn’t work what way? He’s got good tools, and isn’t a perimeter player like a few of the other WHL guys.

Strictly looking at points was the issue I brought up as it doesn't take into account usage, line mates or projectibility either.

Nate Danielson was on most lists a 1--20 range guy before the season started and Honzek wasn't even in the first round radar, that might change but not with only a 10 game sample.

Nice pass here for the game winner in OT. He also had an assist on the game tying goal with 8 seconds left. Has gotten a few clutch (last few seconds) goals and assists so far this season already.

Also got robbed of an assist on the first goal, WHL credits #28 with the assist when it was actually Honzek’s shot. So he should have 3 assists this game. Canadian stat recorders :sarcasm:
