Vancouver will be swept in the first round of the playoffs, no doubt. Possible bottom 6 LW at WC. Personally I liked how he played last time with the national team. Especially if there is going to be no KHL players it would be nice to include him and Dvorsky.

I am not sure whether he is already prepared for this stage. He was also not really impressing at WJC.
But in case he is available he should be nominated for some pre-tournament games just to gain new experience and if he impresses who knows maybe he earns also the spot as 13th forward so like Sykora last year? :)

Please dont do it. Even with Dvorsky. There are other a little bid older players, that deserve the place more. This young guys arent such special now, that they should have a place on senior WCH.
Maybe in one year. Not now.

Dvorsky is much closer to mens WC. He is a center, smart-two way player and he plays in Allsvenskan. We do not have too much center competition. Sykora was 3rd line winger for Nitra and he got his chance.

Dvorsky barely plays center for AIK. He’s player 90% of the season on the wing.

Took a high hit to the head last night and is out indefinitely, likely to miss extended period of time. Has only been back in the lineup for 9 games after the leg laceration.

The Kelowna player who hit him has been suspended but won’t know for how long until Honzek’s status is updated.

Not good in his draft year.

If Honzek Roope Hintz type?

Is Honzek healthy again? He has been injured almost every time when I have wanted to check his games.

He’s healthy again, he’s played the last 3-4 games. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they rested him now since their playoff matchup is already set with a few games left in the regular season

3 point night. Outplays Kelowna and Andrew Cristall in a 3-2 win for Vancouver. Ties the game on the powerplay late in the third then wins the game with 0.5 seconds left in the third. This cat is different than any D-1 Slovak I’ve seen in the CHL for a long long time.

I’ve also been surprised by his shot, he can rip it pretty good from long range. Here’s his assist from the game after he hits the bar:

3 assists tonight as VAN tries to stave off elimination.
Kamloops won in OT, so the series is over but pretty good final game. 3 assists, 5 shots on goal and a +1.

4 pts in 4 playoff games against the stacked Blazers, pretty good. Also sounds like Red Wings brass (Yzerman + others) were in the building for the 2 games in Vancouver, im assuming to scout Honzek + Giants other eligibles.

What a 2 year period this could be for Slovak hockey, with the picks last year and now here in 2023.

Honzek was one of the few players mentioned by Bob McKenzie who received multiple votes as a top 12 player, and at least 1 top 10 vote. Now Pronman mentions this in the latest Athletic mock draft:

I expect he'll go top ten. I really like some of the smaller skilled players, but how do you pick those guys over Samuel Honzek? Big frame, swift skater, skilled, kills penalties, has experience at center... he's an NHLer all the way.
