I personally was able to add 15 lbs in 6 weeks of muscles, but yea I agree with you. It's hard to add 10-20 lbs in a month with all that hockey.

But for Bo's sake, he's probably better off at 200lbs.

lol i highly doubt you gained 15 pounds of muscle in 6 weeks (unless you have elite genetics and you're on something and even then i doubt it). most of the 15 pounds was likely fat

Yeah, not saying the same type of player.

Just saying Horvat's offensive upside is of a 2nd liner/tier similar to what Kesler's numbers

Kesler may be the better goal scorer but saying his upside is Kesler's is kind of a slight to Horvat. Horvat has much better hands and vision. It took Kesler until he was 25 to put up second line upside and he still wasn't very good at passing or seeing the ice. He was pure power, speed and finish. IMO Horvat will be better then Kesler. On and off the ice. Also, to the other Canucks fan that said Johansen.....seriously? Johansen is a premier player now. A stud. Like a point per game stud. I don't see Horvat being that. He'll be between 60-75 and shutting down the opposing line and being top 5 in face off year in and year out. But in terms of value to a team. It's possible because of Horvat's defensive ability and character. But he'll never have that offensive upside that Joahnsen has.

Horvat ended the year at a ~45 point pace since the all star break (including the playoffs) he's already looking like a guy capable of playing top 6 minutes next year. People need to realize that 60 points is absolutely first line production and it's very likely Horvat in his prime reaches or surpasses 60 points.

He hit the weight room almost every day after he made the Canucks. He probably never worked out with weights before. A daily workout for someone who never did weights before can easily add 10-20 pounds of muscle in a month without bulking up.

Yeah, if your cycling Tren as hard as an IFBB bodybuilder.

Yeah... even at peak testosterone production, most people can only add ~4 lbs/month

The difference between Horvat at the start of the year and Horvat at the end of the year is absolutely night & day. Almost every knock he had on him when he was drafted he's taken strides to correct I honestly can't remember the last time I was this excited for a Canucks prospect!

Does anyone know if they'll send him to Utica for there playoff run? I imagine both Baertschi and Kenins will be sent down

I don't believe he's eligible to join the comets, because he hasn't turned 20 yet.

I've said it from the day it happened, the Devils made a huge mistake trading for Schneider and not selecting Horvat which was born to play Devils style of hockey.

As a Canucks fan who loves Horvat I think that was a terrible trade at the time for us and even with how good Horvat looks now it is still a pretty even trade. Didnt follow the Devils at all this year but looking at Schneider's stats they look super solid.

a couple nice rushes in the playoffs has apparently turned Horvat into a the most overrated prospect out there right now. Saying Kesler upside is a slight to Horvat?!?!

Jesus people.

Even more ridiculous are posts like these that assert a prospect is overrated because a couple very vocal rose-colored fans have an unreasonable projection on the prospect.

I was very impressed with Horvat in the first round and the latter portion of the regular season when I watched more Canucks games. His growth over the season was definitely impressive.

I don't think he's going to be the type of player that will be able to pick up the offensive slack that a declining Daniel and Henrik will likely be leaving over the next few years. Comparing him to a guy like Monahan, at either end of the ice, is a little crazy at the moment and frankly the fanbase putting the weight of those expectations on the player does him no favours at all.

I think Monohan is a special player that will end up being talked as one of the best players from the draft. Monohan will always be the better offensive player over the course of both their careers. I agree Horvat probably won't ever be able to replace the offense Henrik Sedin provided. But I think Horvat is as good as, or better, than Monohan defensively, including faceoffs, positioning, stick work, and board battles. And I think Horvat will be remembered as the better defensive player between the two during the course of their careers. No slight to Monohan who's not a defensive liability.

I know someone like Elliotte Friedman considered Monahan on his list of ~7 names for the Selke.

Im not disagreeing with you but Friedman mentioned Horvat as well when talking about his Selke ballot.
