Correct, and it should stop. Monahan is definitely a step above Horvat right now. In the future? Who knows, but people need to stop stat picking when comparing Player X with Player Y to attempt to prove worthless points.

Sure whatever make your fantasy comes true.

I am sure with the right stats, Bo Horvat is looking better than Sydney Crosby
Weak.

No where did I say he's as good as Monahan. And point production per minute is pretty relevant.

I'm so excited to see the future stars of the league. IMO, it will be McDavid, Eichel, Horvat, and Ekblad paving the future of the NHL!

ehhhhhhh

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Horvat's great but I would not consider him better than Monahan, Mackinon, Druoin, Jones ect...

Hes mocking Horvat lol. Look at his previous post of him being a top 10 player , its as sarcastic as it gets. Hes a leaf fan.

Its like me posting Horvat is the next Gretzky Lemieux Howe of this era, you would understand the sarcasm.

Agreed.

Those 4 will be behind only William Nylander when discussing who is tops in the league.

For all of you thinking that I'm mocking Horvat, I'm not. Me being a Leafs fan doesn't change who I think will be a great player. I've watched him play through junior and have always been a big fan.

If the canucks keep drafting big guys, with skill. Eventually they will have a team full of massive players.

Should help in the playoffs for sure.

In all seriousness, Rielly is already a favourite for the Norris though.

Compare Horvat to Monahan is weak...

At this point yes. In a couple of years? Not so much.

Horvat should score 20 goals this year and unless Monahan is a superstar, he will level out at 30 plus.

Soon Horvat will be at 25 plus and if you add his projected Selke play , he will be in the same realm as Monahan with his 35 plus goals scoring center.

25 goals plus elite defensive play ~ 35 goal scoring center

Monahan isn't a "scoring" center, he's a two way center. He's just as good if not better than Horvat defensively.

I think you are getting ahead of yourself here.

I believe Horvat is stronger and better in his own zone (not that Monahan is poor), but Monahan has a nose for the net you just can't teach.

Sophomore slump? Personally I don't think he is playing as bad as some Canucks fans are saying.

he's a bust

I'd trade him for Slepyshev, Copp, Markus Granlund, Bracco, Nick Paul or Andrighetto

He was just never nearly as good as most of them were saying. Bit of bad luck, but that just makes his +/- look worse.

He had a lucky streak and got massively overrated. From catching games with buddies/family he's been both really bad and unlucky (advanced stats back that up), but the difference is the team is losing so it's much more obvious.

Guy was definitely rushed. Makes absolutely brutal defensive lapses frequently (gets burned on more than his fair share statistically) and rarely a threat to score.

So if Monahan stays the same and Horvat continues to get better, they will be comparable?

Why "should" Horvat score 20 goals this year. He has 2 so far in 32 games. He's going to have to increase his goal production about 10x through the rest of the season to get to 20.

Why would Horvat continue to project and Monahan won't...they both come from the same draft year. Also, if you think Horvat is projected to have Selke level play might as well add Monahan to that discussion. You might want to pay more attention to Money.
