Don't be ridiculous

Yes it is as ridiculous as comparing Horvat to Monahan.

Extrapolate to 68 games:

Monahan: 52 pts
Horvat: 25 pts
Ferland: 15 pts

Saying Horvat is close to Monahan because he is better defensively is just as ridiculous to say Ferland is close to Horvat because he is a better hitter.

While I think this entire comparison is not worth making, and although I ultimately agree that Monahan and Horvat don't belong in the same breath at this point. This argument is pretty baseless. The Bo Horvat we saw in the last 3rd or so of the season and playoffs, does not slightly compare to the Bo Horvat we saw during the 1st half of the season. He has developed considerably over the past few months, and taking year long averages doesn't do justice to the player he is today.

cgy had to play monahan on 1C because they had noone else. Hes done an amazing job with it.

Does not mean Horvat could not.

Horvat has excelled at everything given to him. But the coaches reluctance and the fact the sedins and bonino get the better pp roles. He is simply stuck with whatever he gets.

11 mins a night and one of the top scoreres on the canucks post all star game. Plus leading point guy for nucks in playoffs.

You cannot compare the two at all because of their roles alone. To even want to try and compare their point totals, then your completely ********.

Only way to compare anything is to have both people playing the same role and seeing how they do.

stupid argument guys

Horvat on the 1st line all year would get 50/60 points also, that's a terrible argument to make.

If you wanted a better one, you should be focusing on Monahan's GOALS instead, which is more impressive, then his point totals.

you cant just say horvat would get 50/60 points as a first liner lol...he hasn't done it yet.

do i think he can? yeah. but you can't state it like it's a fact in an argument of whose better.

we will see what happens next year.

Rationalize it all you want but it's ridiculous. Any neutral fan would agree. Horvat is closer to Monahan than he is Ferland. I mean, come on man. Ferland? :shakehead

I am extremely happy with Horvat. The difference between Horvat from the beginning of the season to Horvat now is night and day. For the next season the most I can hope for is for Bo to get more chances to succeed and a bigger role. I am excited :D

Why don't you "extrapolate to 68 games" using the numbers from Monahan's rookie year (which, like Horvat, came after 3 years of playing junior)? In that case, Monahan would have 31 points - which isn't far off Horvat's numbers.

Saying Horvat is going to be closer to Ferland than Monahan is like saying

Keanu Reeves is closer to LeBron James than he is to an overheating bunny rabbit two weeks after easter.

They are simply 3 different things.

Why dont we stop comparing Horvat to Monahan? :sarcasm:

at least until he scores 20?

How about using points/60 mins at even strength and adjusting for zone starts?

Both Monahan and Horvat are sitting at 1.78 for their careers so far and Bo has had less experience...

Ferland had a good series but no...just no to comparing him to Horvat. Just laughable.

.

Sure whatever make your fantasy comes true.

I am sure with the right stats, Bo Horvat is looking better than Sydney Crosby

Is this is Monahan vs Horvat thread???

I thought it was just a forum to talk about Horvat. Flame fans with Monahan are reminding me of the way leaf fans act as they compare Nylander to EVERYONE.

lol im pretty sure it was canucks fans who started comparing them

One thing that stood out to me this season is how much his skating has improved. Almost exponentially, in my opinion. Coming out of junior, his skating was one of his knocks, but now is most certainly a great asset. If he continues to work at it, it would be phenomenal to see.

Bo strives me as a kid who just puts in hard work to get where he is. He isn't gifted anything. He works for it. That, in itself, is a great attribute that will give him success in the future no doubt.

After watching him in the cgy series i have to say Horvats a sick skater

Correct, and it should stop. Monahan is definitely a step above Horvat right now. In the future? Who knows, but people need to stop stat picking when comparing Player X with Player Y to attempt to prove worthless points.
