Just going off some of the names off capfriendly, I tried to pick guys under 30 or close to it. Usually most good players are signed well ahead of time but because this season it would be better to wait and not use a protected slot for some of them there will be more options to sign in free agency. I dont expect all of them to make it to free agency or want to sign with vegas but there will be atleast a few options in FA to flesh out a roster.

With how closely GM Jim Benning is holding on to them, clearly LV is going to take Sbisa or Biega in the expansion draft.

I interpreted the thread title as the Las Vegas management literally using CapFriendly to try and get their perspective plans together.

Same. I was thinking they must have been checking in the couch cushions to come up with that $500M and had nothing left for consultation or software.

Ducks either get Bieksa to waive his NMC (they asked him to do so already) or buy him out. Then protect Getz, Kes, Perry, Silf, Cogs, Rakell, random forward and protect Lindholm, Vats, Fowler, or if we end up trading one of Vats or Fowler, they protect Manson instead.

Manson is the most likely to be taken. There would be no reason to leave Rakell or Cogs open to be drafted. Just takes a little common sense to figure that out.

Yep

Yea no way do we leave Cogliano or Silfverberg exposed. If we don't trade Fowler or Vatanen we could offer Las Vegas something not to take Manson.

Can't see them taking Brossoit. He will have to clear waivers and they will know that Edmonton will take him back to play behind Talbot.

It will be one of Davidson, Pouliot, Letestu or Kassian who taken from Edmonton.

Johns is Dallas second best defenseman ( not exactly high praise but still ) . He most certainly will be protected.

Pretty sure Hamhuis and Jordie Benn will be exposed + the meh RFA'S Nemeth and Oleksiak .

I think one or both of Roussel and Eakin will be exposed and one of those two will be taken by Vegas from Dallas.

Everyone has been ******** on Benning and his Master Plan for the Canucks...now it comes to fruition! While every other NHL team dreads the prospect of losing a good player to the Vegas expansion, Benning cunningly pared down the Canucks' roster to about four players worth protecting! No matter who Vegas takes from the Canucks, they'll suck! And no matter who we lose, we'll still suck as well! Ha-HA! Suck that, NHL! Got you there!

That looks fairly realistic though I am sure one or two will not be available but not a bad educated guess all in all.

It sure looks like Vegas will struggle to score with that group. Would that team hit the cap floor?

I doubt Bishop would sign there, at his age he will want to chase cups.

Thought I'd give it a go here too. I didn't take into acccount any future trades. this is strictly if it were to go down today. Here's what I came up with:

Killorn-Soderberg-Silfverberg
Pouliot-Eller-Yakupov
Roussel-Clifford-Hayes
Nieto-Pirri-Martin

Johnson-Ellis
Spurgeon-Wideman
McCabe-Petrovic
Schenn

Fleury
Neuvirth
Hutchinson

EXTRAS:
Lazar
Gaunce
Mantha
Andrghetto
Pokka
Pulock
Murphy

(Obviously no expert on every team so if you have any constructive criticism I'd love to hear it)

So did I - but would that be any different than hockey front office types using online draft lottery simulators?

You dont think they'll resign Kulikov?

Not until after the expansion draft. Why re-sign him before and expose McCabe? McCabe's playing like a legit 2/3 this season. He look s like a great fit as Ristolainen's future partner.

Tim Murray probably risks losing Kulikov to UFA before exposing McCabe. Especially when he can re-sign him if Vegas doesn't sign him in the pre-expansion draft free agent period.

Buffalo is probably going to protect: O'Reilly, Okposo, Girgensons, Larsson, Foligno, and Carrier with one forward spot open; Ristolainen, Bogosian, and McCabe on defense; Lehner in net. And I think Kane and Franson probably get traded prior to the e-draft. So here are the choices from Buffalo:

Moulson
Ennis (injured for the past two seasons)
Deslauriers
Grant (UFA)
Kulikov (UFA)
Gorges
Nilsson (UFA)
Ullmark

Sounds a little desperate on LV's part.

How many teams have been hiring all these analytics guys with websites? Not all that different. If a guy can help, a guy can help.

Wasn't he hired as their cap guy?

That I don't know, but it would make sense since he ran a cap website. I'm sure they would ask him about his thoughts on the expansion draft though.

But your ignoring that Ducks won't expose Silfverberg hmm...
