What type of accountability are you talking about? Gorton gave ADA a warning before his last incident - if anything - what followed is accountability.

And since ADA has been off the ice - the team defense has never looked better!

I think it’s quite simple, if the front office makes a move it should make us better, if not they should be held accountable.

Ask Columbus, they have done an extremely great job and are super proud. They never win anything despite rebuilding for decades, drafting and trading well, and players don’t want to play there. That is not accountability to me, it is to Torts and JD supervised it, but not to me.

If a player makes a move that cost us on the ice they are held accountable, shouldn’t the same apply for the front office. There is no alternative scoreboard in my world. For me it would suck sitting there in 15 years being mocked by fans of all teams around us and never getting to enjoy watching a good team, I don’t care one bit if we got there because we made moves that “sounded good”, moves that JD and co could sit there and brag about.

My only observation is I’ve had just about enough of Mika Zibanejad this season. Most detrimental player on the ice pretty much every game so far and it’s not really that close.

I’m hoping the COVID just hit him hard, because when I had it I wasn’t a total corpse a month after recovering.

@chosen I am just saying, there is a difference between making a move that sounds right and making a move that is right.

If you ask Columbus they are the best and have done everything perfectly for years. In fact, they have drafted really well and made many good trades. But after a couple of decades of rebuilding they have made the POs a few times and like won one round. Nobody wants to play there.

Just saying, it sounds really good when our management speaks lately, really really good, I am not really seeing it in terms of how our kids develop, things that happen, how our vets reacts.

I am not satisfied if we sit here in 15 years and hear JD brag about how they are the best most classy organization and tell us a bunch of things that sounds great — if we in those 15 years and have the POs 4 times and won one round while the NYI, NJD, Pitt, Bos and Philly have more than a handful of Cups between them. JMO.

None of us know how this will turn out. They tore the team down. Everyone agrees that was the correct move.

Now, we're in the middle of a rebuild. My best guess is that next season will show decided improvement. I will start losing confidence in management if by the end of next season, they aren't a much better team.

As for Columbus, they operate at a great disadvantage. Nobody in the NHL dreamed as a kid of playing in Columbus.

Never looked better? com’on lol. This team has played 13 games.

The guy played in 68 games last year

I am not the biggest advanced stats guy when it comes to evaluating an individual — but I think it’s safe to say that we as a team de facto didn’t struggle with TDA on the ice. I am not saying that these numbers prove that TDA was great defensively, but it not fair to say that we sucked defensively with him and is great without him.

I was a big DeAngelo fan for his on ice performance, if I were the Rangers I would have been willing to deal with him not being very good defensively as long as the effort was there that direction too. Game situation whether behind in score or on the PP, coaching could have mostly gave him the right minutes.

That being said he must have screwed up pretty badly for the Rangers to have both crashed any trade value he may have had and pay him what they are for him not to play. On the publicly available info, I really can't blame anyone there but DeAngelo.

Kreider, I did not like the extension and think he should have been traded hopefully for a pick and/or prospect where one or both could have helped with the Rangers future center position. Even a later round pick like say McMichael or Tomasino (if he turns out to be a center) could have at least given us some hope there may be a top 6 center in the pipeline.

That being said, I think Kreider has been what he is this season so far, yet in a game like last night he needs to be more of that player who is driving to the net, using his speed, causing turnovers in the corner and he was not and really has only shown a little of that this season.

Trouba similar to Kreider, the pick that went back to the Jets also could have been used on either of those center prospects.

He has some big limitations to his game. I thought he was okay last night, the effort is certainly there, yet I do think the Rangers need to find a way to get him to play a little more within what he can excel at, letting the game come to him, making a play, and turning the puck the other way with a short pass. Some of that I did see last night. That penalty against was a weak bad call, yet his missed shots need to either hit the net or be passes or something else than what they are.

Zbad, honestly I did not love the trade at the time, yet I was for sure wrong about him. Since then I have become a big fan. He is a #1C. This year I think the effort has been there. No idea how much covid is effecting him. The execution is a little off, maybe mindset, he need to know he can drive the play and try to do so. Seems like he has been more passive this year as far as shooting the puck. However he matched up against a pretty darn good center last night and held his own pretty well. I think he is getting chances which is encouraging, and if he plays like he is at least 5on5 I think the production will come along.

The PP for all of them and others, it sucks. If the Rangers are going to be a more defensive team this year, I am fine with that, but if they are they need two things to happen offensively if they are going to score enough goals to win any given game, the PP and taking advantage of their chances 5on5. The other teams goalie being great is a thing, we know that from Lundqvist, yet at some point the better teams found a way to still beat the Rangers even when Lundvist would play great.

Overall I don't think this is all doom and gloom, the Bruins are good there are some good signs, yet again if they are going to play this way they need to find a way to take advantage of, well the man advantage and their high danger chances 5on5

I actually completely stand by what I said even though I don’t believe the change how the team’s defense looked is solely due to ADA not being on the team but other factors (but completely appropriate in response to @Ola making an issue out of ADA self inflicted removal from the team).

He hasn’t been dumped before and all of 4 teams have the cap space to take him on.

I just want accountability. Does it make us a better team or not? It’s black or white. I have no problems with a move if it makes us a better team.

His next team will be his 4th NHL team as a 25 year old. Defensively we are worlds better. So yes. Lack of goals is on Zibanejad, Kreider and Strome. Everyone always attaches Stromes production to Panarin, it had a huge effect, but Tony benefitted more than anyone from Zibanejad and Panarin. The two of them were flat in the bubble and to start the season and Tony was MIA during that time. Connect the dots, its not that hard to see where his production came from and it wouldn't be any different now. Our pp begins and ends with Zibanejad being able to put the puck in the net.

If the rebuild eventually fails - Gorton will be held accountable but I don’t know what you’re asking for now while they just started on the upward projection.

People need to remember that at the highest level (NHL NFL NBA) these players are at a cardiovascular rate doubled to the average person like yourself (assuming your situation not trying to be a dick). So while saying it didn’t hit you hard always remember to take in account your situation.

i had COVID in March and I didn’t regain my full strength until mid June.

I work out twice a day and am physically on pair with most NFL athletes. (Not skill wise lol).

during my Covid recovery I was at maybe 50% of what my max is. I could barely run a mile (I usually run 4 miles a day) and some days it was even difficult to walk. It for sure hits everyone differently but when your job depends on your physical attributes being at peak performance it’s going to be much more noticeable.

It’s frustrating to watch but it’s a hell of a lot of frustrating to experience. I feel for Zbad on this.

Kreider on the other hand needs to wake to f*** up.

I dunno....Boston is a good team but we need more from Kreider, he looked alright the 1st but he was back to coasting the rest of the game. If Panarin is back next game just put him with Zib and Kakko and load one line up.
Kreider and particularly Mika were bad. Kreider played a good game for a third line grinder but certainly not a first liner. Mika was a zero. He’s playing not to get hurt. He may be shot. I hope not but he is very gunshy. Like two years ago.

Ryan Strome was the worst player on the ice tonight. No battle at all. Really good first period; good battle in the third; flukey goal and a loss. Move on.
Yeah he was a zero too. It’s sad because most of the team was really game.

Anyone else feel like other than the Islanders f*** up our 3rd D-pairing has been perfectly adequate? If we could just score like an average team we'll win our share of games.
This is the part that makes me mad. We can actually play defense now but can’t score a goal to save our lives... I understand sacrificing some offense to play better D. But we have literally zero offense now.

Do they not practice it or some shit?

I felt like Miller had a really bad game, he looked just as silly as Igor on that goal. And I love Miller, but he's been significantly worse lately.
He has been playing so much and not being sheltered at all. I think you’re being a bit harsh. And he also made a ton of nice, smart plays as well. On balance, I was very happy with Miller’s game.

He's one of my favorite players but he seems to be chasing more than he was. A bit more on his heels now. He's a young kid and still a stud.

Yeah the covid comment was a little reactionary, but if he’s at 100% right now we’re in deep shit. He looks like 41 year old Marty St Louis out there.

I definitely think Kreider’s been better than him. Especially relative to expectations.

Literally this defense with last year's offense is a contender for the top spot in the east. Instead even with our strong defense our offense is so bad that we're at the bottom of the division. Good enough to not be embarrassed though.

TDA is not good defensively. The entire Rangers team last season was bad defensively and to start this season.

Lately the Rangers have played better defensively yet i don’t believe removing TDA made the rest of the roster commit to playing defense suddenly.

The power play has been hurt without TDA while i believe the rest of the offense has struggled well beyond TDA’s absence. IMO, the center ice position has been weak, the opponents are playing more of a playoff defense which shuts down those wild regular season cross ice passes and they play the boards harder.

The difference between “sucked” and “great” is not TDA.

In the first game of the season he was BY FAR our best player according to the analytics, like on an island of his own. Then he got scratched back to back games, I know they say him being upset about the scratches was a big part of what transpired but I think he was completely right to be upset by that! We need more players who get emotional like that and play with fire
