So what you are saying is that our organization due to this move will become better on the ice, now and/or long term?

How? I’ve not exactly felt that we have a group that wasn’t devoted and had many discipline issues off the ice. Where is the gain supposed to come from?

Ask yourself something.

If multiple teams have dumped him and don't want him, even on the cheap, even though he's a defenseman who can put up 50 points, why do you think that is? Doesn't it have to be his fault?

He got himself in trouble before the NHL. He's done it multiple times in the NHL Coaches and GMs don't jettison players for nothing unless they think the team is better off without him. Coaches don't want to get fired. Neither do GMs. If they don't want him, it's almost definitely the right decision.

Just need Kreider, Strome and Zibanejad to get going, Chytil and Panarin to come back and if we continue to defend and breakout quick like we are we should be fine. I agree with the Kakko sentiment, it's getting closer and closer with him.
Something that hasnt been mentioned is that Hajek has actually done well in a tough situation coming in and playing well on his off side after not being with the club last year.

If you read this post with any sense of reality it is comical. Not because it is wrong( it’s pretty much on the money) but because of how many things have to go right just to get the ship back floating.

While these are optimistic times to be a Ranger fan— at times they are also absurdly frustrating.

The Rangers outlook going forward on defense is very bright. It was very bright even before we dumped DeAngelo. Schneider even if he spends most of the year back in the WHL has already proved in his first two AHL games he's ready for pro hockey. All the reports of his play in those two games has been glowing. That said Nils Lundkvist might be a better and probably is a more ready right side defenseman than Braden at the moment and Hunter Skinner is a possibility. The left side with Robertson, Reunanen and Jones is almost equally intriguing--add that to the top 4 of Trouba, Miller, Fox and Lindgren and the Rangers outlook on defense for the foreseeable future is about as good as it gets. DeAngelo to me was always going to be moved on and basically because his defensive play has always been iffy but also because his cap hit was going to be out of proportion to his play. His next contract was only going to be worse.

Nothing wrong with Fox, Zibanejad is the reason its not working now, plus no Panarin tonight. Their 1st line would have eaten Tony for lunch tonight, i dont miss his defensive lapses at all.
So....you being a coach on home ice would play your 3rd defensive pair against the opposition top line....? Got it. We all get the Tony hate .

Call me crazy, but with Panarin out of the line up, it makes Strome look like a TV news anchor without makeup and who hasn’t slept in 48 hours.

I know, a lot of 'ifs' , it is kinda funny to read back but i don't think Zibanejad stays cold like this, Panarin will be back, its basically just a matter of Kreider trying and Strome finding his hands again.

Spin it any way you want, call it hate or whatever but he's terrible in his own end, nothing changes that. You obviously have no clue how things happen in a game when you just assume that the 3rd pair should never play against the top line, there's two coaches, ones trying to make it happen and the other is trying to prevent it, it inevitability happens. You can't totally prevent it.

This is a tough loss.

And a disappointing loss.

And a frustrating loss.

But I don't come away feeling like its a bad loss either.

I don't mean the outcome, I mean the way we lost.

Having said that, I continue to be frustrated by too many of the vets.

I'm also with @Kovalev27 in the sense that Kakko looks like a guy who is nearing the brink of being dangerous. You can clearly see it.
That was pretty well how I was feeling last night watching them @Edge . I get that we are a young team and I liked seeing guys man up...but like you I was also let down once again by the lack of effort by some vets who look quite comfortable out there . There really is no magic button to press right now....we have to keep playing tight games until the return of Mika-Chytil-Panarin to 100 % good health .

I think though the time has come for a sit down with Kreider and what the team expects for their 7 million a season investment in him by either Gorton and or Quinn . Somebody has to light a fire under him sooner rather than later . I would try the front office sit down quietly at first...if no results....a couple of shifts off a few PP's....and if still no difference....a couple of games off . The way it is now....it's not working with him . We have to be an all in team like the Bruins play.....every guy has to give that second effort . I don't mind losing....if we leave it all on the ice .

Gauthier had another fantastic game
This.. that goal the other night really game him some confidence. He was skating well, going hard to the net, shielding the puck well along the boards, etc. hope he doesn’t get lost in the shuffle. Some definite potential there...

This board is very predictable. Every year for God knows how many we blame whichever skater has been on the roster the longest and get excited about prospects as though none of them ever miss. Girardi and Staal were treated with contempt and I really hope it doesn't go the same way with Kreider.
It's the same on a loop for years. McIlrath is looking better and better. St Croix and Thomas are coming soon! Don't worry, we won't need Malik for long, we have Baranka. Darin Olver is coming! Darin Olver is coming!!!

You would think as a group who had the terrible drafts that we did for many many years that we would have learned to not pencil in prospects all the time. You would think we would appreciate guys who have performed very well for us for years.

Obviously with the very top guys who went at one and two, hopes are super high. Mine too. But sometimes it goes horribly wrong. I've seen it at other teams at those numbers and I've seen our very high picks absolutely suck which made me fear a rebuild a great deal. As for guys like Reunanen, could be he is a top Dman at this level, could be he's Corey Potter.

Kreider has had a poor start. Mika has been sick and seems affected and Kreider isn't a super skilled player, meaning he's likely to struggle if his linemates are struggling. The implications that he isn't giving his all anger me a great deal. He's a very good player with limitations, deal with it.

My biggest frustration is with Kreider at this point. If anyone in top-6 HAD TO drop gloves last night it should’ve been him. Instead another completely forgettable performance at both ends and everywhere in between.

Kreider has not done much to impact the game lately, Zbad at least is getting chances.
Is there something wrong with Kreider's back ? He is quite slumped over on every whistle . I had never noticed that before this season . Was he always this bent ? Maybe he does have some back /rib issues and he certainly has avoided the slot a LOT on recent PP's ....he spends almost no time there like he did last season on the PP. Anyone else seeing this ?

We’re losing because of Mika Zibanejad anything else is silly. He’s THE guy. The Powerplay the mins the wings are dead next to him. We’re losing one goal games and our best player and IMO he was our best player last year and number one center has 1 goal.

we’re the youngest team in the league if the vets don’t produce it’s asking a lot out of the kids to hold it together.

Strome sucks. We know that. Chytil is hurt. Mika has to put up points get his wingers involved he’s trying to sign a 10 mil contract? These losses are on him. Sorry but that’s reality

Kreider has been dodging it way worse than Zibanejad. At least Zibanejad has a Covid excuse.

His back hurts so much after cashing in that contract. My back would hurt carrying all that money too

He hasn’t been dumped before and all of 4 teams have the cap space to take him on.

I just want accountability. Does it make us a better team or not? It’s black or white. I have no problems with a move if it makes us a better team.

Streaky, yes. I’m not blaming him for not burying two goals. I am burying him for not being even remotely physically engaged in the most physical game that this team has played in since 2016 or 2017. He wears a letter and meanwhile Buch is getting his butt kicked, guys are fighting, guys are bleeding and CK is in cruise control gliding through the zones. He looked like he was more concerned about his dinner plans after the game.

This is the captain material for the Rangers some say?

He’s not s line driver, sure. It doesn’t allow him to be a line killer either.

Haven’t seen it mentioned much (if at all) but Hajek is looking better and better with each game. Last night was the best he looked since a cup of tea he got two years ago.

During the 2013–14 season, DeAngelo was suspended eight games by his OHL team, the Sarnia Sting,[4] and league for making "a most inappropriate statement to a teammate".[5][6] Additionally, the article which confirmed the suspension mentioned this was the second time DeAngelo had been suspended by the OHL for violating the harassment, abuse and diversity policy, though it did not detail the first incident. In November of the same year, DeAngelo was suspended one game for abuse of officials.

Despite his play on the ice, DeAngelo was difficult to handle off it, according to an OHL staffer of the time. Both the Sting and the Greyhounds went through a "daily struggle" trying to manage him, describing the experience as something akin to a "gong show," especially when the Sting and Greyhounds weren't playing well. Reportedly, his behavioral issues dated back to his days playing youth hockey in New Jersey.

If a team gives away a 25 year-old defenseman who can score 50 points, there is something gravely wrong with him. This is a classic example of addition by subtraction.

the power play says otherwise.

@chosen I am just saying, there is a difference between making a move that sounds right and making a move that is right.

If you ask Columbus they are the best and have done everything perfectly for years. In fact, they have drafted really well and made many good trades. But after a couple of decades of rebuilding they have made the POs a few times and like won one round. Nobody wants to play there.

Just saying, it sounds really good when our management speaks lately, really really good, I am not really seeing it in terms of how our kids develop, things that happen, how our vets reacts.

I am not satisfied if we sit here in 15 years and hear JD brag about how they are the best most classy organization and tell us a bunch of things that sounds great — if we in those 15 years and have the POs 4 times and won one round while the NYI, NJD, Pitt, Bos and Philly have more than a handful of Cups between them. JMO.

What type of accountability are you talking about? Gorton gave ADA a warning before his last incident - if anything - what followed is accountability.

And since ADA has been off the ice - the team defense has never looked better!

I'm all on board with wins if they are boring but losses? Yeah those suck

im not on board with boring defense games either way. Win or loss. I want to be entertained and watching people not trying to score to make a safe play is like watching pain dry.

i call the islanders one of the most boring teams ever to watch and the devils of the 90s. We are quickly becoming them in terms of boringness.
