GDT: Bronze Medal Game

MÃ¥rts came into the senior team with a lot of ideas and energy, but he has been completely drained. I liked him coaching the U20, but I'm not sure he could find his spark again.

Really think there's something about losing the QF game to your rival that's just extremely draining. Doesn't make it excusable, but remember these are kids. After Canada knocked out the U.S. last year, they didn't show up for the bronze medal game at all.
 
Sweden is embarassing. They look like spoiled kids who refuse to play anymore because things didn't go their way. Canada at least has been very dominant in WJCs so I understand their attitude towards bronze games better. Sweden should be happy with a medal, even if its bronze.

Well, I will. And I think the players would much rather remember finishing in 3rd place with a medal than finishing 4th with nothing. You don't have to care about bronze, but I see no reason for getting rid of the BMG.

Exactly. There has been an air of entitlement from them. It was similar when they lost to Finland in Malmö. There was no question from them that they would not win the gold, but things played out differently. Perhaps it's time to come down from the clouds and start approaching this tournament with some humility.

Who are you to say what these kids should be happy with and not?

If they were playing extremely good against Finland I could understand that. Problem is Sweden didn't show up yesterday either, 3 shots on goal last period and whining about the refs.

And US lost against their 2nd biggest rival yesterday. It's a big difference between these two teams.
 
I understand losing a bronze game by one or two goals because you don't feel like playing, but to get slaughtered like this is just embarrassing. Have some pride and give your best effort even if you don't end up achieving what you set out to do.
 
sheesh - do the Swedes hate their goalie? They're like an offensive line that doesn't block because they want their QB to get slaughtered. Some of the forward seem to be skating hard but the defense looks like they just want to go home
