Thanks for the heads up on that highlight. I found it and posted it above.

Nice to talk about good things on the farm. I still think he’s too small to make it in the NHL. Hope he proves me wrong.

He definitely has NHL hands. He’s at worst Kulemin, at best Samsonov. I’ll be glad if he’s Larionov. Would love to see him with Barzal.

Monday morning spit balling.

Lou does not retool or rebuild so a deal is coming at the trade deadline.

The only 2 somewhat untouchables for me are Raty and Dufour due to their skill sets and the fact that each of them have no heir apparent in the Isles prospect pool.

If a deal is to be made I’d sell high on Ishakov and Bolduc. Wait too long on some prospects and your asset disappears both for you and your prospective trading partner.

Ishakov is too small to make it and while he is skilled, his talent is not next level like the handful of small players that have excelled in the NHL in the past.

Bolduc is more of a calculated gamble (like Pokka). He’s had a bounce back year but it’s hard to fully dismiss last year’s downturn and you have to give to get at the TDL.

Do not agree. This team needs all the young, productive talent it can muster. Unless we can bring back a young, controllable, productive player (not a rental)...I keep them to see what they can do.

The B-Isles are 1-5-1 in December. I have to believe that the recent callups of Holmstrom and Fasching contributed to this after a marvelous November. The team is off until Friday when they travel to Hartford as part of an interrupted home and home with the Wolf Pack that continues after the Christmas break.

Also....Jakub Skarek is playing himself out of this organization.

He really seems to be. He looked to (maybe) be turning the corner at the end of last season, but totally regressed this year. And with the quality goalie coaches available in the Isles system, it is probably time to move on and try to identify a new prospect to groom at the Bridge.

I assume that would be Tristan Lennox next season.

You think the Isles will sign Lennox and try him in the AHL (or ECHL) next year? The OHL numbers aren't great. Not sure if that is more the team, him or a bit of both?

If not Lennox then who? Ken Appleby is in the ECHL and nobody should be pencilling him in for anything more than that. Clearly the Isles must draft another goalie.

Or target a young one in a trade from a goalie-rich team buried down the depth chart

Any one in particular, Mr Pollock?
I was looking at Nashville's system. Looks like they are set with Saros, Lankinen and Askarov. Cooley maybe.

Salminem or Holm in Winnipeg's system

Anaheim has 3 goalies 22 and under in the system

Carolina has Raanta, Andersen and Kochetkov with Sawchenko struggling this year, after a pretty good earlier run.

Boston's Brandon Bussi is a LI native and stuck behind a few. Swayman looks like the long-term #1 at 24 years old. Keyser is 23 and from my area. DiPietro was a Team Canada goalie and in the ECHL and a possible reclamation project at 23.

Mac Guzda with the Panthers

Have to look at other teams

Part of this thinking is we do have a track record on getting goalies back on track. It might be smart to do a prospect for prospect trade or if we are sellers at the deadline, look for one of these guys as part of the trade. Maybe something like Blade Jenkins for DiPietro makes sense.

I guess as long as Mitch Korn and Piero Greco are on our staff any goaltender can be helped back on track. The work they did with Robin Lehner was nothing short of a miracle.

The Isles are fortunate those guys are on the coaching staff. With that being said, we need more talent.

You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. Bet that’s never been said on HFBoards.

You reached into the back of the box for that one?

We also have Tikkanen who we could sign, he is committed to North America clearly by taking shot in ECHL.

You think he’s Nigel Dawes and that’s fine for I find you to be an insightful contributor to this forum but I think your off. I think he could play in the league for 10 years play 700 games and score 200 goals. The question is can he play defense.
