Today was a killer as they were in a position to get some breathing room over Ottawa

They need to rip off 5 or 6 regulation wins but you look at the schedule I can't see it

This could wind up being their worst season since Dave Lewis was coach.

The benching of Marchand may well have been justified, without fully knowing Sacco's reasoning it's hard to say, and that's now two coaches in the same season who have had issues with the captain's play. So something is wrong there and I don't think Brad should be immune from discipline simply because of his history and his role.

But I just can't agree with the timing. Huge game, big point on the line in the context of the season and standings, and Marchy is one of the greatest OT players of all time. He has to play there. Save whatever point you want to make and issues you want to deal with for later. Just poor judgment on Sacco's part, and a poor reading of the room.

I don't think it would be right to sack him now though, unless the guy you're replacing him with right then and there is the one you see as being the next proper long-term coach. Going through 2 interims in a single season smacks of incompetence and a franchise in crisis. Which may well be the case, but I don't think you go around showcasing the fact. Accept that the season is not what you hoped and there is no magic potion to fix it, ride it out, and go from there.

Bruins will not be handing Sacco a new deal if I had to wager on it but whatever right , because this team is not winning the Cup under any coach as is.

A bit concerned by how two coaches ( one fired, the other an interim) can decide that Marchy is best to be benched late in games.
The captain!
Then later giving vague answers.

Are they looking for a 15 veteran to learn a lesson from this or is there a mysterious green light given to run him out of town on a contract year?

If the latter becomes more apparent....RUN!!!
I respect Marchy to much to see him hang around with this crap happening by some rent-a- coach

If I am Brad ,I put my kids first and no way are they making me waive my nmc and lose time home.Brad holds the cards here.He gave them a home town discount last time, so they better start respecting him more.

Yeah, essentially. There's no way Sacco is getting a new contract, in that sense he is very disposable. Just don't think in-season is the time to do it unless his relationship with the players is completely broken. Sweeney's made his big move on that front, such as it was, the season is a whiff, just have to live with it now until the offseason IMO.

The Bruins won't address coaching until the season is over and see who might be available.

My gut feeling is they want Mike Sullivan or even Peter Laviolette

I also believe Marchand will be traded and maybe sooner than we expected.

Laviolette is a decent coach who's obviously very experienced but his recent record is underwhelming and my sense is his best days are behind him. The game moves on and not everyone can keep up. Pass for me on that one. Sullivan would be fine. Obviously knows how to get it done on the big stage, the Pens' slide is clearly primarily roster-based, and he may well feel he has unfinished business in Boston. Would be a bit weird him being McAvoy's father-in-law, but then there are no guarantees Charlie will still be here.

Either way, my sense is that the Bruins will indeed prefer to go with an experienced hand after selecting a younger guy in Monty ultimately fell apart despite all the early promise. Perhaps that's not the right call but it does feel like that's what they'll do.

My position on Marchand hasn't changed - it's up to him. That's how it has to be.

Having slept on it, this is dysfunctional on many levels.

Coming out and immediately going down 2-0.

Battling back, only to blow a 2 goal 3rd period lead, and coughing up the tying goal with 12 seconds remaining.

A team, who already fired the coach earlier this season, benching the team captain in overtime.

All the dirty laundry will come out, because it’s 2025 and of course it will, and we’ll find out how screwed up things really are right now in that dressing room.

Somehow fitting this this was the day they fell below the playoff line.

Whatever there is to be done, do it swiftly. They’ve had ample opportunity to stabilize and right the ship. The revolving door of call ups and guys claimed off the scrap heap aren’t the answer.

What do you do, simply ride it out the next 2 months and accept your fate?

As a fan that's fine, as a GM that's terrible. Missing out on a player who can help the team win for the next 10 years out of some warm fuzzy feelings would be a mistake. It's up to the GM to decide if a player should stay or goes. That's how it has to be.

That is exactly what they are set up to do. That is probably what they will do-certainly with Succo.

We don't know what is happening in the room but Neely and Sweeney do because Charlie Moore has FULL ACCESS. Moore has NEVER leaked a tape the front office does not want to be seen.

WEEI's
Rich Keefe didn't make up a story as that is not in his DNA.

When they were up 5 - 3 I really saw it coming. I said Ottawa will tie this up because this team lacks the killer instinct big time and then it happend. Astonishing how they let Ottawa set up their goals and how incapable they are in scoring a empty net goal. This team has no possibilly to go deep in the playoffs. Look how they were bombed with shots in the last games and a lot of them were quality ones that only not went in because Swayman is standing on his head those last games.

The positives

- I loved the pushback on Ottawa. They showed that they are capable of not being pushed around. Why don´t they show this more often?

- Oesterle is this years Wotherspoon. Just a solid game

- Swayman making the big saves. Laughing at the people critizing him for the empty net goal/clearing attempt. Without him this game would have been over after the first period

- the chemistry of Pasta and Zacha with Geekie coming along

Carlo, Coyle and Marchy had especially bad games. I wish Marchy would resign from the Four Nations and go for some rest.

They have no business of going on a run or are even safe to get into the playoffs. I wish managment would see the need of retooling but Neely´s comments showed they don´t. Trading Carlo, Frederic, Marchy and drafting in the top 10 in this years draft could really help them in becoming a contender again. Right now we we are doing it the Detroit and Pittsburgh way of slowly flaming out ...

Was it a coach’s decision?

“Yeah.”

For now, that’s all that they’ve made public and a team that doesn’t need a distraction, opened itself up for a big one.

Sacco is an economic speaker. Perhaps to avoid talking himself into trouble the way Jerod Mayo often did, he usually doesn’t say a lot more than he has to.

But speculation will fill this void — on social media and certainly on sports radio — until Sacco or Marchand clears it up. If there’s a good reason or at least a reason Marchand didn’t play, Sacco would be wise to volunteer it quickly and get out ahead of it. Maybe he and Marchand have already cleared the air. Maybe Marchand agrees with him. There’s missing information. The Bruins would be smart to get facts out before the rumors start.

I'm on the fence with the Marchy OT debate....on one hand he was having a horrible game, multiple posters including myself during the live game thread were saying it ...turnover, bad pass machine all afternoon ....on the other hand he's your captain and one of the most clutch OT performers in Bruins and NHL history....I'm leaning towards the fact Sacco made a mistake but I see the logic...now he has to deal with a disgruntled room/captain...fun times.

Back to back Saturdays I watched this team squander 3rd period leads with less than a minute left.......team has no finish
What do they think got them the lead? Sagging back around our own net without competing for puck possession? Each time it was obvious they were going to get scored against. Terrible way to close out an otherwise good performance. Both times I almost threw up. Wasted another solid performance by Sway.

Need to put together a nice long winning streak NOW.
