Kinda embarrassing stuff from the Rangers here tbh. Hoping L. Brooks is just giving his unsolicited opinion with this 'rumour' but I think we all know these type of guys speak for the hand that feeds them. Drury getting desperate trying to solicit talent thru the 'New York Times'? lmao. Maybe we'll get an indepth expose on the Tkachuk summer-house from TMZ in the coming days, lmao

I’m far from an Ottawa fan. It’s fun to see them lose. But that doesn’t mean I don’t understand player values. And it’s clear Brady T would cost the Rangers Lafreniere + +. Not too sure what those pluses would be, so the question I proposed.
Would the Sens consider Lafreniere plus Chytl plus Schneider? Would the Sens have to add Chabot to that scenario?

I certainly wouldn't trade Chabot for Chytil and Schneider so in that scenario you're not adding to Lafreniere at all.

Come on, Tkachuk is not worth Adam Fox

IT'S ALRIGHT WHEN FLO RIDA DOES IT DOE YEAHHH BUDDY

LMAO!

Remember what you got for Karlsson? Brady won't draw much more than that.
Brady Tkatchuk is in a long term deal. It’s at a really good number. There would be a bidding war if he comes available. Sens would make that type of deal in the off-season (around the draft) so all interested clubs could make their best offer. That kind of market would cause the price to climb. From the Rangers the price would certainly start with Lafreniere and then add.

It’s obviously true that it’s come up in some capacity. Sens obviously sensitive that their captain is getting named in trade rumors when they need to convince him to stay, but not only did Brooks report it but Elliotte basically said yesterday that the teams were talking and Ottawa is sensitive and didn’t want it to get out. He didn’t name Tkachuk, but putting 2 and 2 together you get that they discussed him in some capacity.

I don’t trust Dreger at all. He barely breaks any news anymore, and of course the Sens reporters were told to deny it by the team. Not saying it means anything is imminent, but you’d be stupid to believe the two teams haven’t discussed it.

Yes it’s definitely true that it has come up in some capacity.
The capacity being the Rangers are talking about it - and there is nothing the Senators can do or say to prevent them from doing it.
In the same way me talking about your hot wife doesn’t imply your wife and I are having conversations.

If I was Ottawa, any conversation re: Brady T starts with Fox...and he ain't going to Ottawa. The Sens need quality depth:
Schneider
Laf
Perrault
Garard
1st & 2nd

Um yes he is.. one for one..are you a sens fan?

Yes but I try to avoid bias like the plague and say things as they are.

As good, valuable and impactful as Brady Tkachuk is, Adam Fox is a Top-5 D-man in the NHL, still 26 y/o and with 4 years left at a reasonable rate. If that wasn't enough, he's also a RHD, scarciest position in the NHL.

You also replied "Fox" to a post that said "What could the Rangers add to Lafreniere to make this work?" Laf + Fox for Tkachuk is outrageously homerish

Why would Ottawa trade him for any less lmao

Maybe, maybe not, it depends on many things, like if he doesn't want to stay if they miss the playoffs. He would have any right to do that after watching Dorion waste several seasons/assets for nothing.

Also, you have to go back to where the conversation started. The poster I replied to answered "Fox" to a post that said "What could the Rangers add to Lafreniere to make this work?"

Lmaoooo god this is hilarious

What is hilarious? That I wouldn't do Chytil + Schneider for Chabot? Dude, you really don't know hockey as much as you pretend everywhere.

Chytil has a $4,437,500, 2 more years left and has 15 pts in the last 2 seasons combined. Schneider is still young but doesn't play against top competition, doesn't produce, doesn't excel defensively.

Chabot is an impact player. I'm someone who ignores "noise", especially when it comes from hockey fans in general, Chabot is top-10 in a lot of metrics this season. He's finally back to being healthy after 2 injury-riddled seasons and is playing very good hockey

Probably would take
Laff, Kandre Miller, Gabe Perreault. Not sure id do that if I were the Rangers though. If I was the Sens I’d accept before nyr could change their mind though

Perrault is going to be the ELC guy who plays with the stars to start his career so he's pretty much untouchable. Cullye as well.

I'd say Othmann would be part of the package.

You try to trash a newspaper and can’t even name the correct paper

I think you’d be foolish to believe that Drury and Staios haven’t discussed Tkachuk. Doesn’t mean the discussion was much more than Staios saying “everyone is on the table, knock our socks off”, but I fully believe the actual teams have talked about Tkachuk. Again, not suggesting anything is close or will happen. I think it’d be naive though to believe it’s all the Rangers lying about it to the media for some weird reason. What would that even be? Wouldn’t that be tampering to be suggesting you are going to acquire a player there’s literally no discussion with that player’s team of acquiring?

When Staios took over, it was reported that he discussed every asset the team controlled as an exercise to understand the league-wide value of the pieces he held.

If the above is true, he did discuss Tkachuk with teams. I could see how some people might jump to the conclusion that the formality of figuring out the values was a smokescreen to prepare for the possibility that Tkachuk could ask out, without having to actually cause a stir by actively shopping him.

I am 50/50 on this entire thing now when I previously felt Tkachuk was 100 percent gone. GMs lie publicly all the time, but I don't think the team would have come out as adamantly as they did if they didn't intend to take the risk of keeping Tkachuk beyond his NMC. This market has to be handled very carefully by management and ownership because the previous management and ownership completely eviscerated any trust with the market. They have to know this.

It is one thing to say "we want to build around Tkachuk" as a general sentiment back when they took over. It's another thing to come out swinging as strongly as they did yesterday. Unless the return for Tkachuk was so ridiculous that they could have credibility in saying "we never shopped him, but could not turn down this offer", it makes me think there is more of a chance that they value Tkachuk highly enough that they will risk getting a minimal return for him in 1-2 years if they still stink just to get those 1-2 more years with him.

Of course, now that I think that, he's going to get traded tomorrow.
