Uhhh what? He has 5 fights with the Caps and has won 4 of them. Feel free to re-watch them on hockeyfights.comI mean a bit of snarl. About as much as Hagelin. If he ever fights he just gets the beat down.
All that said, I don’t think he is the right guy to add. Basically need to upgrade Mangiapane. I prefer to spend on a 25-30 goal guy.
Lawson Crouse healthy-scratched for Liam O'Brien. So i'd guess he could be had.
I wonder what the price would be.
I'm not so sure Mangiapane is or ever was anything more than a 15 goal guy who works really hard, has some skill but is a bit undersized. His one outlier was playing a lot with Johnny Gaudreau who finished only a few points behind McDavid for the scoring title. Not shorting what he did but he really hasn't produced at the NHL level in any other season enough to make me think he's capable of 30+ again. Unfortunately for the Flames they bought the hype and paid him like a 30 goal guy. His assist totals are way down this year but that's because he hasn't consistently played with anyone who can score goals on a regular basis. His goal totals and where he's trending are about what you'd expect for him looking at all his other seasons in the NHL.I don’t think Carbs has figured out Mangie yet. Or vice versa.
In Calgary, Mangie was a fiesty “20 goal” scorer (with that one 35g season), and yet here he seems marginalized.
Why?
He may need top 6 minutes to score like he used to. But he isn’t seemingly earning top 6 min.
But the TOTALLY bizarre part, is that’s he’s earned that trusted slot w Dowd. I mean…..
That’s a thing
Re: Duhaime — he’s got a lot more push than Hags did. Duhaime is happy to fight. Hags wasn’t as much. He’s more a Bradley or a Chimera, ONLY in regards to fisticuffs.
Damn, good for him. Didn't realize he was still in the league.Lawson Crouse healthy-scratched for Liam O'Brien.
right? that's how I took that news tooDamn, good for him. Didn't realize he was still in the league.
OK… Hagelin is a bad comparison. But i really don’t think he has won 4 of 5. I have been right there to see him get his ass kicked twice.Uhhh what? He has 5 fights with the Caps and has won 4 of them. Feel free to re-watch them on hockeyfights.com
Dude has plenty of snarl
Caps have won 7 playoff games total (ignoring the round robin playoff games from 2020) since they won the cup in 2018. If they are not hungry regardless of whether Ovechkin breaks the record, that's deeply concerning.Call me crazy. I dont want Ovie to break the record this season. It would be like winning the cup right before the playoffs. And could make us soft I want us HUNGRY.
I never thought I would be debating 1st place in the standings vs Ovie goal record at this point of the season.
That said if he does break it this season Ill prolly break down and cry out of joy.
I should probably wait for a capologist to chime in, but I don't believe subtracting McMichael's salary is enough to squeeze in Forsberg. More cap would have to go the other way.Let's get Forsberg back
McMichael, Lapierre, 1st
Sell high on CMM in hockey trade? Count me in.I should probably wait for a capologist to chime in, but I don't believe subtracting McMichael's salary is enough to squeeze in Forsberg. More cap would have to go the other way.
Also, if the Caps are looking to trade McMichael, they should do it next season either at the deadline or in the offseason. He's signed for one more year at 2.1 which is still incredibly cheap compared to his level of production (even with the slowdown).
I dont want him to break it this year either, but only because i dont want him to get any thoughts in his head about going back to russia next year.Call me crazy. I don't disagree, except that he's probably a third-liner careerwise, but the hot start has him playing a top-6 role. If you can get 1/2 winger value for a guy who's likely a 3w/c, you take it. But there's no urgency either.I don’t understand the sell CMM talk. He is still on a cheap contract and is having his best season. To me that is trending the right direction. Everyone has ups and down in a season, I’m not going to judge a career path on 20 games. I’d rather upgrade the top 6 and move CMM down then get rid of him.
I will agree, I’m not saying he is untouchable, if you can upgrade anyone for the right price I’m listening. He just isn’t the guy I’m looking to replace right now. When it comes to roster building I think we are getting good value with him and could next year too.I don't disagree, except that he's probably a third-liner careerwise, but the hot start has him playing a top-6 role. We’ve all seen a lot more than 20 games….we’ve been watching for years now.I don’t understand the sell CMM talk. He is still on a cheap contract and is having his best season. Seeing CMM sign an 8x$8m is too awful to imagine.I don’t understand the sell CMM talk. He is still on a cheap contract and is having his best season. To me that is trending the right direction. Kid was born on Oct 24. Hot streak continued through November 30th.Lets see how CMM does after his 2 week break. Its been noted his slump after becoming a father.
If they trade for a top 6, it's inevitable CMM starts getting less minutes with less skilled linemates, value would take a hit, so it would make sense to trade him then, but also with the cost of mediocre rentals right now being a 1st+ trading for a top 6 seems unlikely.I don’t understand the sell CMM talk. I became a CMM fan boy. Ill admit it. I want to keep him and see him play better. In his hot streak he looked like one of the fastest players on the ice and would be a game breaker. That has been gone maybe he is hurt.Kid was born on Oct 24. Hot streak continued through November 30th.
Exaggeration of excuses IMO.
