I mean a bit of snarl. About as much as Hagelin. If he ever fights he just gets the beat down.

All that said, I don’t think he is the right guy to add. Basically need to upgrade Mangiapane. I prefer to spend on a 25-30 goal guy.
Uhhh what? He has 5 fights with the Caps and has won 4 of them. Feel free to re-watch them on hockeyfights.com

Dude has plenty of snarl

Lawson Crouse healthy-scratched for Liam O'Brien. So i'd guess he could be had.

I wonder what the price would be.

Actually fits quite well for the ”profile”.

Big guy, not young but not old either, former high’is pick, who has plenty of upside but have been kind of a little stuck and lately falling out of favour for his current team. Has term.

For reasonable return, i like it.

I don’t think Carbs has figured out Mangie yet. Or vice versa.

In Calgary, Mangie was a fiesty “20 goal” scorer (with that one 35g season), and yet here he seems marginalized.

Why?

He may need top 6 minutes to score like he used to. But he isn’t seemingly earning top 6 min.

But the TOTALLY bizarre part, is that’s he’s earned that trusted slot w Dowd. I mean…..

That’s a thing

Re: Duhaime — he’s got a lot more push than Hags did. Duhaime is happy to fight. Hags wasn’t as much. He’s more a Bradley or a Chimera, ONLY in regards to fisticuffs.
I'm not so sure Mangiapane is or ever was anything more than a 15 goal guy who works really hard, has some skill but is a bit undersized. His one outlier was playing a lot with Johnny Gaudreau who finished only a few points behind McDavid for the scoring title. Not shorting what he did but he really hasn't produced at the NHL level in any other season enough to make me think he's capable of 30+ again. Unfortunately for the Flames they bought the hype and paid him like a 30 goal guy. His assist totals are way down this year but that's because he hasn't consistently played with anyone who can score goals on a regular basis. His goal totals and where he's trending are about what you'd expect for him looking at all his other seasons in the NHL.

OK… Hagelin is a bad comparison. But i really don’t think he has won 4 of 5. I have been right there to see him get his ass kicked twice.

As mentioned before I don’t think Fredric is the right guy. But i like his game.

Sadly i think we need to move Mangiapane if we are going to get a true top 6. Not because he isn’t good, but to make th numbers work.

As we know playoff-teams love to add that "veteran 7D" at the TDL for the run. We have done that a lot too.

Alexeeyev must be frustfrated and wanting to get out. How do we feel to "do him a solid" and move him for a non play-off team for that vet 7D at the TDL?

That would be selling low, but Id rather give AA a chance to get in a playing roster somewhere than spend a pick to add 9D. Also dont see a route where AA continues here after this season even with the RFA-status.

Some UFA-veterans that could make sense in a 1on1 swap? Savard (MTL), Cole (STL), Suter (STL), Johnsons etc.

Eller has heated up lately and the need for another 3C is calming out. I dont think we need "Gourde" at all. Lets roll with Eller and circle back to it after the season.

McMichael doesnt show signs of heating up again, he is going the wrong direction. I agree that top6 winger is what we should focus on the TDL. And if we get one, I can see CMM as an option to upgrade the 3C too (not just the wings), if Eller isnt enough.

I like Crouse (trip9), very much a Caps profile-get. Utah also has another underachiever for this season in Maccelli, but I dont think they will give up on him yet. But this is a team looking to make waves, so I can see a fit here between Caps and Utah. Id also keep eye on if Detroit can keep hot, or will they look to miss the playoffs. Patrick Kane would be just what the doctor ordered. Islanders have Nelson and Palmieri, both could be fit for rentals, but I just dont like the idea of paying up kings ransom for either of them. Dont think they are enough of a difference makers.

Brock Boeser would still be my guy for long term solution, and this is where I wouldnt mind spending (extended!). In some form, I wonder if Canucks would be interested in CMM for Boeser based swap. Or if we would be interested. Boeser is the type of player that could jump in the Ovie-role after next season, 30G pp-guy, and you would have next season to slowly introduce him into the mix.

I dont see the need for third line winger like Frederic or the likes. Especially paying the premium to "update" this slot. If we want to go there, rather go garbage pin hunting. Couple interesting UFA's to be; Joel Armia and Justin Danforth. Shutdown players with upside.
