Proposal: Brady Tkachuk to New York Rangers

In fairness to Brooks, he never said Ottawa has talked to the Rangers about Tkachuk. He said the Rangers want Tkachuk.

This sounds like NBA style tampering. The Rangers are trying to plant the idea in Brady's head... you can play for the biggest American franchise... be the centrepiece of the team and captain... sit in Celebrity Row at Knicks games... live close to your wife's family in NJ...

It's not secret that Brady has a NMC kicking in in July and the Tkachuks are no strangers to pulling power plays on their teams.

The Sens can deny it, but they have to sniff out Tkachuk's intentions as best they can. If he asks out on July 2nd... that's trouble.
I dunno, maybe Brady doesn't want to play in NY, ever think of that?

Yes what a sales pitch. You can come be our new captain (ignore what we are doing to our current one who we promised the same things to)

I don’t know whether rumors are true or not but if Tkachuk is ever available I wouldn’t have a problem doing a Laf+ package for him at all.

Brady, JBD, Boucher for Lafreniere, Kakko, Lindgren, 1st.

Damn, I'm not doing that if I am the Rangers. Boucher has zero value and JBD value is maybe a mid round pick.

Thats awful lol... more like Fox or Kreider

Uh... Fox is more like Stutzle value. Kreider is nowhere close Tkachuk's value, he's 33 y/o by the way and has probably started his decline this season.

Rebuild was over 4 years ago. Words of the GM. He’s led them to nothing.

Yeah that's what I am saying? And who cares what Dorion said? At least now everyone understands there's nothing to hear.

Trading Brady would be ****ing stupid. At his best he's likely a 40 goal, 85-90 point forward who plays hard-nosed and physical hockey.

I don't care what anyone says, B. Tkachuk, Stutzle, Sanderson, Norris, Pinto, Chabot, Ullmark all locked up to long term deals is a sick core.

Can imagine the lack of success is getting frustrating but most of these guys are just entering their prime. Stick it out and find the right ancillary players. Pressing the panic button and selling off leaves you like the sorry sack Sabres who are watching Reinhart and Eichel win cups and lead their teams.

Canucks had a similar core and have turned it around with a few shrewd moves and a good coach. I think Sens need to stay the ship for now but need to improve the d core and coach.

All this says is that if there BT talks, Trouba would not be part of the package which makes 100% sense. 1) pretty sure all Canadian teams are on his no-trade list for whatever reason, 2) a trade with BT and Trouba makes any additional assets way harder to manage for cap reasons. OTT is not going to have ~$8M going out and 16M in cap coming in. Any ways, BT is smoke. No need to engage until something juicier comes along.

Boucher and JBD are throw ins/warm bodies. .

Lindgren is a pending UFA who might net them a 2nd at the deadline.

Kakko has had one foot out the door for the past two seasons. Solid player, but he's not the 2nd overall talent he was when selected. He also might be at risk of going unqualified because he could be one of those players who have a case to get a high arbitration ruling that is just below the walk away number, but higher than what they would get on the open market. Similar to Ottawa moving on from Brannstrom. The fact that Kakko is still with the Rangers after his name has been in rumours on and off for years likely points to his trade value being underwhelming.

It's basically Brady for Lafreniere, a 1st, and whatever the Rangers would have gotten for Kakko and Lindgren at the deadline. That should be a very easy yes from the Rangers POV.

Simplify to Tkachuk for Lafreniere + Kakko + 1st

Way too much from the Rangers IMO. I would make front flips if that'd happen mind you.

The proposal was made before the Trouba trade when cap in/out was more complicated.

They can now do something like Brady for Lafreniere+Picks and Prospects because the Rangers just cleared almost Brady's entire cap hit.

Is there actually smoke to Tkachuk to the Rangers lol?

Seriously, give me just Lafreniere and Kakko and i'd be pretty happy

Lafreniere - Stutzle - Batherson
Greig - Norris - Giroux
Kakko - Pinto - Perron
Gregor - Gaudette - Cousins
Amadio

I threw this out on the Ranger board but what about Laf, Kakko, Miller, 1st for Tkachuk and Chabot.

Hard to say no with the 1st

Can't afford to trade Chabot though, he's much better and essential than many seem to think

I gathered these stats this morning :

Among 193 D-men who played at least 200 minutes at 5 on 5, Chabot is :

5th in CF/60
16th in CA/60
8th in CF%

1st in SF/60
45th in SA/60
4th in SF%

28th in xGF/60
19th in xGA/60
9th in xGF%

Okay so he’s a loser like his dad. A good player but he doesn’t help with team success. He’d be better as a complimentary piece rather than a main one.

I know Chabot is awesome that’s why I threw him in there but I would expect Ottawa to want to keep him.

Oh, I was talking about Dorion so thought you were as well

Brady Tkachuk is a high end 1st line power forward, a high impact player but he's not the engine on the team. Stutzle is the motor and Batherson is the skilled playmaker. Perfect if he's your 2nd or even better if he's your 3rd best forward.

I know Chabot is awesome that’s why I threw him in there but I would expect Ottawa to want to keep him.

He just had 2 injury-riddled down seasons (for his standards) so if there was a time he isn't as highly regarded as usual, it's now. Many Sens fans are actually scapegoating him (like a good portion of the fanbase did back then with Spezza) but the narrative will change as the season goes on.

Sens need him, his pairing is the only one producing at ES right now
