One of the best interviews with Brady

Sad that he thinks Ottawa fans hated him as a draft pick because of social media. I remember a few vocal ones were very negative but I think much of the fan base liked the pick.

There was a lot of negativity on these boards with the Tkachuk selection. The usual "we just drafted a 3rd liner with our 4th overall pick" because nobody actually watched him play and just looked at the stat lines from his 1 year in college. Everyone was butt hurt that we didn't take Zadina who was the perceived best goalscorer of the draft and something we needed. I never understood that even at the time of the pick. There's literally prospects like Zadina in every draft for scoring goals, prospects like Tkachuk are rare, when you have a chance to take a legit powerforward, you do it. Get the goalscorer later.

The worst part was many of the posters that were bitter about the Tkachuk pick were still adament Zadina was the pick to make even 1-2 years after the draft and couldn't admit they were wrong.

Sounds like his mom was following the wrong people or reading too much crap on the internet.
Was it really that bad? Of course the dumbass pissed people are the most vocal but I didn’t think it was that bad. I’m not on Twitter though. I just remember a few people on here battling me before and after the draft when I was saying he would carry this franchise into new territories of success. But I really just thought it was a few people.
Ima go back and read some of those posts :)
Eh, the complaints always register a little louder, and he was undoubtedly a divisive pick.

Makes me feel bad for Boucher who likely had it even worse. It's a shame he hasn't been able to stay healthy enough to even get a chance to prove people wrong.

It’s all good. Was a frustrating and confusing time for sens fans.

Back on the everyone feeling good ride we’re on right now.

lol. That was fun.
I read through about 15-16 pages. Some of the Tkachuk takes are can give you a good chuckle now. Its funny how everyone is an expert when it comes to takes on draft age players.

The Zadina takes are equally funny. (I really liked the "Next Kucherov") one. I never liked Zadina and thought he was being overblown.

I was on the right side of this one but have been on the wrong side of plenty .. I think it comes with the territory.

This poll has some good takes as well. Votes 183-23 that Sens should take Zadina ...

^Nice news there.
Also in case anyone missed it, DJ said that Brady ran off because of his elbow which is totally fine now.
If that’s true then very good news. Looked like more senator shoulder issues.

It looked so much like a shoulder, except for the part where he was moving his arm around. If it was a separation or dislocation he wouldn’t be able to do that. In retrospect it makes sense that he hit a nerve in his elbow or something and was trying to shake it out.

Him coming back for the third was the best part of the game. I was also convinced we were gonna lose him for a spell.

Yeah I though he was done meaning the team would be done. Was definitely the best part seeing him back out there and then losing it on tuch. That was awesome.

My DMs are open . White or Black fine with me lol. @NyQuil

I would have brought this up earlier but had no recollection of it at all

Hehe, me and my big mouth.

I was dead wrong on both Tkachuk and Sanderson which is why I don't comment on picks anymore.

I didn't say which Christmas BTW. ;)

Since being named Captain Brady Tkachuk has lead by example during that time:
165 games
158 pts - most of any Senator during that time
72 goals - 1st among all players during that time
511 hits - 1st among all players during that time
258 penalty minutes - 1st among all players during that time
655 shots on goal - 1st among all players during that time

And yet people are ripping him to shreds. Brutal

i think Brady's comments speak to the trust the fans and Brady already have - for sure this fanbase respects him and for sure we all listened to him. not everyone agreed but Brady has earned the right and trust from the fans to talk back to the fans. Brady is the biggest part of the solution and we know that, we see him, play we see him lead. everyone is frustrated and it needed a reset so good on Brady for getting it over with - time for a win.

Brady is as much at fault as every other player and coach for this death spiral.

You boo the team? You are booing Brady as well.

It's surprising that Brady is so soft off the ice.

He's been coddled his entire career up to this point, and when there are finally some (albeit relatively low) expectations for his team, he's throwing hissy fits in the media 10 games in.

You'd think that after all that time spent in the stands watching his brother play playoff games, he would've learned a thing or two.

He has the ability to turn himself into a dominant, 2-way winger. Instead, all he wants to do is score goals off the rush.

this team won't go anywhere until Brady stops floating on the backcheck, stops blowing the zone early, stops being the biggest cherry picker in the league.

the frustrating part of this is that Brady has all the tools to be a dominant defensive player. imagine if he competed as hard in the other two zones as he does in the offensive zone?

as it is the team follows his example and we are where we are.
