Maybe, we'll see. I imagine that's what Staios and Smith are hoping happens. But what if, when those players come back, someone else gets injured? What it Stützle or Giroux miss games?

Can we only assess the team at 100% health?
Essentially yea that’s the attitude.

You live in the land of excuses and what-ifs. There's really no point in discussing since, no, I cannot prove what would have or would not have happened in an alternate reality.

I only evaluate what actually happened or is happening.

The Senators weren't very good without Josh Norris last year. This year, he's returned, and the Senators still aren't very good. That's the reality of the situation.

Maybe at some point in the future, he'll be in the lineup, fully recovered, and they will be good. Let's hope that day comes soon.

Personally, I think there's a lot more evidence, to date, to suggest that this isn't a good team vs. a good team. You seem to think it's a good team that's just dealt with unfortunate circumstances.
And you live in a land of falicies, and false equivalencies.

Your premise is that Norris now is a good representation of Norris last season had he not been hurt, which displays a profound lack of understanding of the impact missing a full year of hockey has on a player when they return from long absences.

The fact that you keep doubling down on it is astounding. All credibility goes out the door when you die on that hill.

We are missing 27% of our team currently

Yes, we are. It is unfortunate.

The Boston Bruins are currently missing 20% of their team, and started the season without their top two C from last year. How are they doing?

No, I'm claiming that it's not a slam dunk to suggest that if Norris hadn't gotten hurt, we would've made the playoffs last season.

I don't know how it would have played out if Norris didn't get hurt. Neither do you. Maybe we would have been better. Maybe not.

All I know is how we did last year, and how we're doing this year.

This year, Norris is currently playing, and we're not very good. We're 2-5 with him in the lineup. (I'm obviously not blaming solely him, by the way).

No? Post trade deadline is when both goalies got hurt at the same time
And we put up legit stinkers goalies aside in Chicago, Vancouver and Calgary. It was like 2 on 1s constantly.

Those were atrocious games. We stunk. We were relatively healthy.

In fact the games I remember winning were when that dude from Toronto outright stole a game lol. We needed our 5th string to steal a game lol
But you count Kastelic? (And Brannstrom, for that matter...)

Chabot, Greig and Zub are big losses, though, no doubt.
When kastelic is back we will see the real sens.

No, your moving the goalposts now. You made the claim that Norris isn't noticable now outside the pp and implied having him in the lineup wouldn't have made a difference, your exact words were we aren't 1 player away, and we've never been. That's very different than you don't know one way or another. You made it quite clear you thought you knew and made a pretty dubious argument to support your position.

I went back to the Chicago game you blame on Sogaard. To find those deflating goals you talked about. Chicago Blackhawks - Ottawa Senators - Mar 6, 2023 | NHL.com

Take a look.

Goal 1: Batherson tries a ridiculous through-the-legs pass in the offensive zone and turns it over. Hamonic gets beat wide coming back. 2 on 1, Chicago scores.

Goal 2: Watch that one... what a disaster in the D zone. Chabot and Zub doing their best "coast and look like a pylon" impression.

Goal 4: Dickinson is left wide open in the slot... that sound familiar?

Goal 5: Reichel breakaway.

The only "bad" goal was the 3rd, but even that was started by a careless Pinto giveaway when he was crossing over Chicago's blueline.

Lol, alright. We aren't 1 player away, and we never have been. We missed the playoffs by 7 points last year. And it's not like we were the team right on the outside. Both Pittsburgh and Buffalo finished 5 points ahead of us, and also missed.

The only place where missing by 7 points is "close" is on this board.

Goals can be deflating even if they weren't terrible goals. Goalies need to come up big from time to time, you let in 5 goals, 4 by the half way mark and one on the 2nd shot of the game, ya it's deflating.

They see a tic tac toe goal and talk about injuries.

Lolz. You've gone off the deep end.

You've gone from, "the team played really well but the rookie goalie sucked so you can't criticize it wasn't the team's fault" to "the rookie goalie didn't bail them out on all their mistakes so you can't criticize it wasn't the team's fault"

I'm not the one who claimed Norris right now is representative of what could have been expected had he been healthy last year then when called out on it doubled down. Take a look in the mirror friend.

Now watch these goals. Done in by the rookie goalie!

Goal 1: Stutzle failed clear attempt. Tkachuk failed clear attempt. Giroux let's his man walk right to the front of the net as if it was a breakaway.

Goal 2: Vancouver gets a 2-1 while shorthanded.

Goal 3: Ooof... Holden. Ooof... Hamonic.

And... they came out flat. So whats the excuse? Did we settle on Planetary Retrograde or is it another excuse? Too cold? Too warm? Not enough popcorn salt?

You apparently didn't get the point. I'm sure you've already got all your critiques about how we play(ed) against Toronto this coming Wednesday ready, but I'm going to wait until the game before I make opinion about how they play, just like I told you I'd wait till the actually played TBL before commenting on that game.

But but your act is real funny, should take it to an open mic night or something, might get a laugh or two
