Team is doing poorly, getting ridiculed in the media, getting in trouble with the league for being poorly run, and have the same coach behind the bench who has been on the hotseat in the eyes of fans for years, boos should be expected when they are playing like cat turds, regardless of the circumstances.

Brady is allowed to vent his frustration with the boos, getting boo'd at home sucks. He should also understand they are warranted, and this is an entertainment sports league.

Nobody should be upset with Brady, and 99.9% aren't. The boo's aren't directed at Brady, and equating them as though they are is disingenuous. They're booing the state the team is in, coupled with extremely poor play happening right in front of their face in real time.

Brady has playing been fine.

Fans are booing because the team as a whole was not competing (contrary to what Brady said), they were not playing hard for long stretches, no forecheck, no physical play, etc. etc.

And it's the HC's job to get the entire team to play with urgency, and DJ hasn't been doing that enough for 5 years now. Therefore, DJ needs to go.

Brady is on the ice. He knows the team is competing. Some fans don’t understand the impact of missing players this early in the season.

Booing them is bullshit and Brady agrees.

What team in the NHL doesn’t “compete”?

Purple participation ribbons aren’t a thing in the NHL. Although with how the world is going, I’m sure they will be soon.

Read the post I am replying to

Okay - Tkachuk said that the team is competing, but when you watch them play, oftentimes, one can say that the team they're playing against is competing harder than they are.

That's why they were booed.

Coming off a stretch where they were 1-4, the way they started that game against TB was embarrassing.

Maybe they'll get it together, but the fans are rightfully losing patience. Especially now that Eugene and Pierre aren't around to be the main targets.

And yet people are ripping him to shreds. Brutal
Are people “ripping him to shreds”?
Where on Twitter?

It’s really no big deal. Hopefully he realizes how insane these people are.

This is pure stupidity. I am guessing you are just being sarcastic, Pierre.
The original post was pure stupidity.

Given the context of the past 5 years under DJ I am pretty sure you could deduce who the boos from the fans were aimed at.

Your first sentence is ironic given the stuff you spew on here, intentionally.

We all know he didn't have a full team for the first 3... then partial team up until last year. 6 points out of a playoff spot. We would have been there with Norris.

Would we? Norris is playing right now, and outside of the PP, you don't notice him very much. 2-5 since he's come back.

We're not 1 player away, and we've never been.

Norris is playing now after missing pretty much a full year and not being ready on time for camp or even game one of the reg season. He's clearly not the player he can be or would have been last year had he stayed healthy.

I think it's incredibly disingenuous to suggest because he's not playing well now that he'd have played poorly had he not been injured last year given how large a factor the injury and subsequent time missed is likely to be playing in his current performance.

It's equally a leap to suggest that if we just had player X (in this case Norris), everything would have been different. Maybe it would have. But maybe it wouldn't have. Nobody knows.

All we can do is evaluate and assess what happened in reality, not in a fictional best-case scenario. So much of the evaluation in regards to this team seems to be baked in what-ifs.

"Well, if all of our key players play 82 games and if Chabot plays like he did 4 years ago and if Batherson gets back to what he was pre-Aaron Dell then we're a playoff team – so you can't criticize."

Jamie McLennan just said it on Overdrive. Losing teams dwell on injuries. If you want to be a winning team, you have to overcome it. These aren't young kids anymore. They're veterans who got paid and need to show up and win.

And it's not even as if the expectations are super high. If we were 6-4, people would be content. But we're in last place in the East, fifth last in the league.

To get to 96 points, which is likely what we'll need to make the playoffs, we'll need to go 44-28 the rest of the way. With every loss, the road gets even harder.

No, it's most certainly not equally a leap to suggest a guy that score 35 goals and 55 pts in 66 games the year before being healthy and in the lineup, pushing rookie Pinto who had 35 pts in 82 games down to the third line, would have a significant positive impact on the team.

But it certainly is a huge leap to claim a player who missed a full year including this years camp is playing at peak form, and representative of what we could have expected from him had he not been injured.

You live in the land of excuses and what-ifs. There's really no point in discussing since, no, I cannot prove what would have or would not have happened in an alternate reality.

I only evaluate what actually happened or is happening.

The Senators weren't very good without Josh Norris last year. This year, he's returned, and the Senators still aren't very good. That's the reality of the situation.

Maybe at some point in the future, he'll be in the lineup, fully recovered, and they will be good. Let's hope that day comes soon.

Personally, I think there's a lot more evidence, to date, to suggest that this isn't a good team vs. a good team. You seem to think it's a good team that's just dealt with unfortunate circumstances.

Well some injuries Happened, and are happening……. And maybe when these Six Starters, are back in the lineup, along with Norris, they will be good

Maybe, we'll see. I imagine that's what Staios and Smith are hoping happens. But what if, when those players come back, someone else gets injured? What it Stützle or Giroux miss games?

Can we only assess the team at 100% health?
