Ya it was definitely meant as a joke. It's pretty crazy to think about though, the windows can sure be short. At least this time the contract situation is way better with not everyone expiring at once, without a bunch of overpaid dead weight behind them. That and we aren't on welfare as a franchise anymore with Andlauer taking over.
I don't know but this made me look up how old Toews and Crosby were during their first cups. Toews was 22, Sid was 21.

Granted completely different situations, but will be nice to have our 24 year old Cap hoist it

Ya you really can't afford to wait to long. It's a young man's game.

I see no reason why Stutzle and Tkachuk can't be in there fighting for it immediately.

Brady might be the most important athlete to ever play in this city. At a time when the organization was lacking integrity and responsibility in comes an 18 year old who oozes integrity and responsibility and he invested all of that into the Sens since day 1 and he he turned the Ottawa Senators around through sheer character.

Brady Tkachuk is the Ottawa Senators.

As Chris Chelios says “the players are the game” and even with new ownership and lots of names rejoining the organization - just can’t tell where the hot-mess the Sens were for so long if they drafted Filip Zadina.

For how rare Tkachuk is as an on ice talent - he’s more rare as an ambassador. Alfie was a reluctant Captain full of integrity and character - Tkachuk at 18 years old was everything this team needed on and off the ice.

Very lucky to find such a gem and rare player. Saved the franchise as Alfie did, but not only saved it he changed the dialogue around this team single handedly.

If an elite goalie makes a coach look good, Brady Takchuk has made Dorion and his management team look good. Everybody in management collecting a cheque from the Ottawa Senators owes Brady Tkachuk.

Y’all see that wild moose on the ice last night in a full cage wearing Brady’s jersey?

That thing was huge

Thank god for Brady.

The other failure no one talks about is not getting the tkachuk brothers together here.

I don’t know what pieces we could have offered to match Florida’s offer, or whether Matthew would have agreed to play in Canada.

ALMOST whatever it took. It’s instant cup time if you get those two together. I can’t imagine him not wanting to play with Brady here with what we got going on now.

The change is so positive and palpable with these guys and now new ownership.

Feels like everyone is excited to get things going and taste success again. I love it.

Nice goals but more impressive was last game he was the best defensive player on his line and maybe the team.

Broke up so many plays in the neutral zone and was making big plays low in the defensive zone as well.

Looked like an elite defensive player.

I said it elsewhere, but he saved a sure goal at some point by tying up a guy's stick or deflecting the puck at the side of a yawning open cage?

I wish I could see a replay.

Part of me thinks he's inspired by the numbers his brother is putting up.

"If he can do that, I can do that."

This ad BTW is a beauty:

And he now has the previous star captain forward teaching him how to be a two way player.

Last game Brady was deep in the D zone many timeA breaking up plays and hounding the forecheck. It was really awesome to see.

He absolutely prevented a goal near the crease last night. He’s adapting….

Yeah, I also wondered how much influence Alfie might have on individual defensive play. It's not so much that the coaches aren't giving the same advice, but coming from Alfie the impact might be bigger.

These are young guys learning how to play the game the right way, people were complaining about our forwards hanging out past the red line, but clearly all teams have this play as part of their game plan. They all do it to keep the defence back from the blue line but it takes that guy longer to get back into the D-zone if the exit doesn't work. When it does work it often leads to a good opportunity in the O-zone or possession. It's a strategy not cherry picking, how many times do we see the puck go up to Tkachuk who taps it to Stutzle or Giroux flying in from centre & they gain the zone?

One of the best interviews with Brady

Sad that he thinks Ottawa fans hated him as a draft pick because of social media. I remember a few vocal ones were very negative but I think much of the fan base liked the pick.

Woww, it really was one of the best interviews I have seen from Brady. Thank you very much for sharing ! :)
Such an honest and caring guy, so happy to have him as our captain and leader representing our team for years to come. Don't care about social media draft day comments, we love you Brady ! Go Sens Go !!

Sounds like his mom was following the wrong people or reading too much crap on the internet.
Was it really that bad? Of course the dumbass pissed people are the most vocal but I didn’t think it was that bad. I’m not on Twitter though. I just remember a few people on here battling me before and after the draft when I was saying he would carry this franchise into new territories of success. But I really just thought it was a few people.
Ima go back and read some of those posts :)
