Brady blew the zone early way before it became the "system".

And some kind of system lol. Push over coach with a bunch of young stars who play and act like they are still in college.

And why does Brady look the worst and least responsible carrying out this system? Shouldn't it be the opposite.
I disagree, Brady was somewhat involved with backchecking last season, not so much this year. I think he's atrocious on putting the same effort into his D, but I think somethings changed this year (probably not having Norris' defensive awareness there to bail him out or DJ finding new ways to be a shitty coach) and Brady is getting worse defensively

No doubt Matt's performance has been the stuff of legends so far.

But if anything my takeaway from this is don't doubt the Tkachuks. Just stop. They all have "it". Yes Keith never had good results in the playoffs, I was watching and remember. But he playe the game The right way is the bottom line.

These boys just simply know how to play hockey. Period. They are greater than the sum of their own parts, and their engines run on that magical fuel mixture of intangibles and competitiveness. And have the IQ and willingness to use their size to its fullest.

Brady doesn't have to carry an entire team on his back offensively for him to still play a staring role as the captain of our cup winning team someday. He can chart his own path, and hes got lots of potential to make a huge contribution to a cup winning team in his own way.

Like a rich mans Dustin Brown.
None of them have won anything and Matthew was more busy cross-checking people in the face and getting 10-minute misconducts in the finals than scoring or assisting.
Brady has the chance to be the outlier by being less wild and crazy and more cerebral and instigating; in other words draw penalties then kill them on the PP.
So far there are no examples to follow in the Tkachuk family, but Brady is perhaps the family's greatest hope. And he's with us for quite some time, we're lucky to have him.

Too many of those with Tkachuk outside the zone wayyyy before anyone else, and he aint a speedster, so we know he left an assignment early. I have no doubt he will be a more refined player in his own zone, but we need that to happen sooner. And then he'll be a top 5 winger league wide.

He's like a duck out of water in his own zone. ..

All he has to do is use his body along the boards. Coral and protect the puck and pop it back to the C or D. Or muscle ot past the dman.

Currently he tries to do too much, but so does pretty well all the forwards. Way too much collapsing and leaving the points open.

Not really, it’s what he’s supposed to be doing.

Too many online fans think they know what NHL players are supposed to be doing.

Ah yes, we not into the season and ice-tray's brutal passive aggressive posting has started.

You played organized hockey? You friends with current cup champions? You talk to coaches that have coached elite NHLers? I do all that.

Stay in your lane this season, please. Your first sentence was enough.

I have been to the big house a few times it is quite an experience. Over 110,000 people and if you notice almost all of the fans are cheering for ONE team! It is a thrill to see how they support the Wolverines. I recommend this to anyone who likes cool sports experiences. The tailgating is great and some Michiganders gave me free beer ( Lol).
Another cool thing is going to the merchandise stores....they sell anything and everything with a Wolverines crest on it.
Get there Friday night go out and hit the bars two nights. Gameday get there early and take in the amazing atmosphere! I have been there when that college gameday tv panel has been there outside on the campus area and it was pretty neat.
I can only speak to my experiences and they have always been totally positive at Michigan Wolverine football games and the people are great!

You call that brutal passive aggression? You seem pretty testy buddy. I’d say your little weird brag session in the above post was a better example of passive aggression. You play organized sports and talk to cup champs and stuff, cool, thank you for sharing.

It’s been well discussed that the offensive plan when the D gets the puck is to blow the zone and look for the break out pass.

You may not like the strategy but it isn’t simply a matter of Brady cheating for offence and missing assignments, rather it’s a set play. Maybe ask one of your elite coaching friends about it? ;)

That was a set play, whether you like it or not, Sens aren’t the only team doing it.
You’re being a little more than over the top lol, on a play designed to stretch the defence out, or for a line change.

Brady has work to do in his own end, but let's just pump the brakes on how badly he plays away from the puck. He's not a floater, or lost, or disengaged.

No. Like almost every other young star winger in the history of the NHL, the two-way defensive side of the game tends to get more refined over time.

Most young star players have to sacrifice some offense to play elite defense. And once they know they can score at a high level (and are getting paid for it), the hope is they buy into the bigger team picture after all of the other personal boxes get checked off.

I'll say it again though, the rest of Brady's game as an elite PWF is so frighteningly far ahead of schedule that we really should cut him some slack for not also playing like 30yr old Alfie out there yet........

And to be fair, PWFs don't typically have to be the defensive stalwarts on their line, and tend to have a hunters kind of mindset away from the puck.

Todd Bertuzzi - one of the most prototypical and dominant PWFs to ever play the game - was also hilariously bad in his own end for anyone paying attention. And yet he still made Team Canada for the Olympics, and was on an all time great line (in an era where it was a nightmare to score).

All I'm saying is that it's on us to get Brady a more defensively sound team for him to lead - just as much as it's on Brady to focus less on points and more on defensive awareness as we all go forward together.

Goes to show gotta go for it when you can and that we must produce results (playoffs) asap or else the culture of losing will seep and it becomes a vicious cycle to escape.
Ya it was definitely meant as a joke. It's pretty crazy to think about though, the windows can sure be short. At least this time the contract situation is way better with not everyone expiring at once, without a bunch of overpaid dead weight behind them. That and we aren't on welfare as a franchise anymore with Andlauer taking over.
