Confirmed Signing with Link: [BOS] F Elias Lindholm signs with the Bruins (7 years, $7.75M AAV)

It really depends on where the cap ends up. 7.8M seems like a lot now but if we continue to see sizable jumps over the next 5-7 years, then it won't look bad even if Lindholm winds down. At the very least, I don't think it's something the Bruins have to worry about until year 4-5.

Lindholm is exactly what they were looking for to fill the gap left by Bergeron and extend their window. If it lasts for four years, I think they're pretty satisfied.

In 4 years Pasta will be 32 and the Bruins will start having bigger problems. They can't keep finding high lottery pick talents in the late 1st and 2nd rounds forever.

If this keeps up in 5-7 years we'll need to go through a thorough rebuild :S. Unless we get lucky with Poitras/Lohrei/Lysell & Co and they evolve into all-stars

3G7A in 23G this year, 0G1A? in last 10 or so?

Has he been bad or is it just the team being bad?
The only teams worse in goal scoring are the Ducks and Blackhawks. He hasn't had production, but there are like 9 forwards playing worse than him right now.

Yeah, this has been a disaster so far. I can't express how disappointed I am.

He reminds me a lot of Carl Soderberg, who was a very good #3 center behind Bergeron and Krejci. But we signed him to be a #1. We knew we'd have to overpay to get him and he was an overrated #1C, but we thought at least we'd get a top 6 two-way center. He's been pretty useless and doing nothing. They tried him with Pasta, they tried him with Marchand, nothing has gotten him producing or even looking like a guy who sets the agenda in the attacking zone.

Holding out hope that a new system under a new coach and possibly integrating new guys that Monty wasn't using will get him going, but I'm not deluding myself either.

That makes sense, I liked him a lot in Vancouver but the Canucks wanted him to be an elite 3c

I don't know why people were assuming Elais Lindholm was the solution for Bostons centre problems. He wasn't really it in Carolina. He was only able to produce one good year with super star Johnny gaudrea or Mathew taChuck.
Then on the Canucks he was borderline useless. Hopefully he finds some rhythm with Marchand or pasta but he shouldn't be playing anything above 2c.

The thing about the bolded is...he's never really been "that guy". So expecting that was probably naive. He's always been much more of a complementary offensive player.

What is surprising, is that it doesn't seem to be catching on with any of the Bruins skilled play-driving wingers. Though at the same time, it seems like that whole team has forgotten how to produce offensively. Seems like pretty much everyone's numbers are down, or their play has slipped in other ways. So i'd definitely hold out some hope that eventually, you'll get guys turning things around and starting to score again, and that maybe Lindholm will find a groove with someone and start producing more as well.

Gotta imagine that Sweeney (and maybe Neely?) get canned this off-season—and that the replacement uses a buyout here.

A lot of bruins fans will disagree but Marchand has been slowing him down immensely. Lindholm is doing all the everything on his line besides pulling the trigger and he just isn't that guy. Ideally he'd be playing with Pasta but Zacha and Pasta works decently usually and Zacha isn't very good at lw.

Brutal contract

He's like a 4-5M player right now and might only get worse. 7 years at that cap number is bad

He was never going to do it by himself. They need a couple more forwards, he’ll look fine with some support. He’s never really been a driver and I don’t think the B’s thought he was going to be a super star. I don’t think this was looked at as an immediate benefit contract.

This signing has been a bust. No chemistry with Marchand or pasta? Good game tonight but aside from that he's been a bust this year.
