Fair signing. Give every team in the league 9.5mil in compliance buyouts and a feee Charlie McAvoy (at 9.5m) and every team takes that deal and improves significantly.

Dayummm.

McEvoy is a cornerstone player though. Jealous the Bruins get to roll this guy for the next decade.

This summer is crazy for Dmen getting paid. Jones, Hamilton, Hughes, Makar, McAvoy, Nurse, Werenski. Wild stuff

edit: damn, I even forgot about Miro Hesikenen . That's 514 million+ in contract dollars handed out to these guys since June. Insane

Insane.

Ekblad looking like a freakin steal right now.

Can't really compare Ekblad one to one, when one was done multiple years ago in little lower salary cap and after ELC.

This looks like fair deal for both. Not cheap, not expensive. Had to be done for your #1.

I'm a fan. Mac is a bonafide stud #1 dman, and given the other contracts signed this summer, this is totally fair. Happy he'll be a Bruin for at least 8 more years after this season.

mcavoy is legit. and if he gets PP time he'd get so much more public praise/acclaim. deal will be basically through his prime/peak.

ps - raise your kids dmen

Sick player but 9.5 is to much imo. Career high of 32 points. Making more than Makar??

If you factor his play last year over an 82 game season, he would've averaged >60points.

If you want to factor in his playoff success, he had 42points in 62games all while playing limited PP time and against other teams top lines.

He's the modern day version of D.Doughty....will be elite on both sides of the ice.

Worth every penny. A GD beast of a modern defenseman. This deal is more than Makar’s because pretty obviously it eats into more prime UFA years. It’s not rocket science. Makar will be what, 28, when his deal ends and McAvoy will be like 32?

If the Avs wanted Makar on an 8 year deal - that number was going to be 8-digits long and not just by a little…

Comparing apples to oranges. One getting 6 years after ELC, so mostly RFA years and other one 8 years mostly UFA years. How hard it's for people to understand, how to compare deals. How long those are, what years and compare those to cap. (And others said about their player type already.)
