I'm sure Boston is too but Marchand would definitely have gotten max term and more money elsewhere. This is the trade off for that nice cap-hit.

I'm sure it's structured to be relatively buyout friendly 35+. Or at least more so frontloaded.

It's buyout-proofed with all the signing bonus money. Just slightly less then 50% of the compensation is in signing bonuses. Including nearly 60% in signing bonuses over the final half of the term.

Good cap-hit for the next few years, but given his size and style of play, I'm not certain that he'll maintain his level of play into his mid/late 30's.

The Pens probably would have wanted him for those years.
