Excellent AAV for the team, great term for Marchand. My only concern with the contract is how he will fair if/once his physical tools begin to deteriorate. Small guy who has to work his ass off to score points, reminds me a bit of Mike Richards in that regard, and we saw what happened to him, although who knows how much of that was influenced by his off ice issues.

Regardless, he is my favourite Bruins player so im happy for him.

Exactly. Most people's reaction is that the term with these deals is too long, but that's just what the market dictates right now. Everyone's getting long term.

The positives for the Bruins' are the low cap hit. Plus I have to think a player like Marchand probably will be useful well into his 30s even if he slows down a bit and isn't as offensive since he's so great defensively and as a grinder/agitator. He'll be the ideal 3rd liner some day.
