Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. But the poster I'm arguing with is misinformed or lying.
It's legal to be a dick at work. Most companies will fire you for it, but it's legal.

It is not legal to create a “hostile work environment” in the USA. I’ve seen managers neutered and have their ability to interact with employees revoked after the company was sued and lost.

Which is a good thing, because even lawsuits you win are expensive. I'm not saying, nor have ever said company non harassment policies are a bad thing, and the tips they give are good.

Well considering specifically harassing a protected class is the crime of discrimination, I'd challenge you to find a legal case involving harassment period. I'm pretty sure "harassment" isn't even a crime in most places.

Consequences good and bad for every action.
You can face a lawsuit for being a dick. You won't lose a lawsuit for being a dick, unless it's against a protected class with evidence.

Edit: although I think there are laws based on sexual harassment that don't fit under the discrimination aspect.

Because it's pretty much accurate.
Standard as long as its not protected class related, employers do this all the time in order to stop unemployment claims forcing people to quit instead of laid off/fired.
If you have a paper trail, in some states you can fight and get unemployment with this type of scenerio, but you won't have a civil claim.

I mean, there are laws against Threats of Violance that could fit and make you right if there was any evidence of tbat. but that's all criminal code.
So, mere words against non-protected classes can or can’t result in civil liability or even criminal guilt?

I've read parts of this thread and other related threads in the past. My research has lead me to conclude that a major problem with hockey, among other sports, is that "it's just a bunch of guys".
