I am not sure this has ever been confusing. If I am Zub or his agent I would have done the exact same thing. If you believe in your abilities why not get to UFA as quickly as possible. I don't blame Dorion or the Sens management at all as I am sure Zub's camp made it clear buying UFA years would cost a considerable amount.
Zub high end is probably 5mill? If even that. I would say he got from Ottawa what he probably would have got as a free agent. Add in flat cap and injuries and his side probably thought this is what he would get

great deal and our best d man tbh.. the chabot deal is gonna bite us in the ass i think though. hes not a 8m d man.
Meh, he's fine! He's an 8 million dollar defenseman.

There are 9-10-11 million dollar defenseman out there. There will be 12-13 million dollar defenseman before his contract is done.

He's fine as an 8m signed long term. It's saying he's a #1 but not competing for a Norris.

They got the donuts? Excellent....
Boo Boo claiming nothing is imminent.

This might define how the bowtie's career goes from here.

Assen na yo!

Looks like this smug prick is out of favour with the organization. Why else would they let him hang himself out to dry on last night's broadcast?

Nothing imminent? Good job, Bruce. Looking forward to more embarrassingly bad takes on upcoming broadcasts.

Assen na yo!
