from sens perspective more good is large contract, less money..

easly you can trade or buy out.. ( when hi will turn 33-35 year). and you see its done..

what we saw, if we want be a contender, need each usd to save.. add good players, give boys deserve money and etc..

p.s timmy adds 7.3 debrincat will add minimum 2.5 -3 m + pinto + after 2 year sandy ( and it will be no cheap :) )..

we need reasonable contracts, (this summer was perfect , i hope will be same in future)

I wonder what his agent is asking for. 6.5 probably and Dorion is trying to get it to 5.5 (all guesses obviously).

I don’t feel Zub has enough offence to ask 6+. I think he’s aiming for 5+ while Dorion trying to get him in the 4+ range
This is a tricky one though. He's amazing defensively and has some untapped offence and is right handed. He's a valuable commodity and his agent knows it.

I think anything around 5.5. or 5.75 is rock solid for us.

I doubt Zub is asking for $6M AAV. He is not worth that. More like $4-$5M AAV for 5 years.
It'd be done by now in that case though. Dorion has shown that he's had his head surgically removed from his arse and I'm sure he recognizes his importance.

Weeger just signed for 6.25AAV starting next year. Zub isn’t going to get near that if he gets 6+ years.

I don’t like 8 year term for good not great players. 6 is my max.
What if the 8th yeae drops his AAV to 4.5M? Could be a pipe dream though. I'm sure his agent knows he can make closer to 40M in 8 years if he splits his contact well e.g. 6M x 4 years, 4M x 4 years.

His agent likely wants a bidding war from a desperate team looking for a top 4 right shot D.

Anyways if he is worth 5.5X6 and he wants to sign here for 6.25X8 the extra 750K and term is better than not having him at all.

I'm sorry, but if Zub wants 6MX8 years, the Ottawa Senators can find a better way to spend that money.

Dumba, Klingberg, Severson, Mayfield, etc.. there are options and unlikely to be that many teams with cap room.

Yeah, I’m not sure how leverage Pierre has. Don’t let this be “Claesson can replce Methot” all over again.

Do we even have a physical RD in the system that can actually defend?

I have no clue how we are going to re sign zub, cat, bran and pinto and be under the cap.

Zub first as he is the UFA. Then Pinto. Then Cat. Brann can be a trade chip as a result of a tight cap.

Year after next year cap rises 5M on top 8M of dead cap in Bobby, Murray and Zaitsev coming off the books. So just really need to stay under for next year and then a bunch of room comes in.

For next year Cap friendly says the Sens have 22.5M in space to work with. Assume the players get above market value to player here.
Zub gets 6
Debrincat gets 9
Pinto gets 3mX1 (makes up for missed ELC time... come on pinto help the team out)

Leaves 4.5M to fill out the rest f the roster. Hamonic/Holden/Watson/Motte will likely re-up close to league min if we wanted to keep em + guys on their ELCs.

If Sens can find a way to dump Zaitsev this summer instead of waiting for his contract to expire that brings in a lot of flexibility.

There is no excuse to not be a cap team at this point. If there is a internal budget adding additional constraints we are a joke.

Lots of comments about what his agent wants.

What about what Zub wants? Might well be that he is quite happy here. Clearly the fans adore him. I don't imagine the climate is an issue, he might well enjoy it. And he may not be a bright lights big city guy.

Not having the revenue to support being a cap team isn't an excuse, it's a mathematical reality.

I don't care what day of the week it is, having 12088 fans attend a game in a climate with a weaker cdn dollar may not drive enough revenue to be a cap team

I’d go 4.5 x 6. 27M vs 25M. Every 500K in cap space is important moving forward.

I doubt Zub is asking for $6M AAV. He is not worth that. More like $4-$5M AAV for 5 years.

Say goodbye to the player.

And he'll get a bidding war.

8 years is maybe unreasonable but $6m isn't.

Dumba, Klingberg, Severson, Mayfield, etc.. there are options and unlikely to be that many teams with cap room.

Every one of them is worse and they will all get paid a lot.

Like 80% of Zub's life time earnings will be in this next contract. I have no issue with him squeezing every last dollar out of it from the highest bidder.
