With our defense being so thin, losing a top pairing D for a few weeks really hurts when we already have our #1C out. Might lead us to a massive losing streak unless goaltending saves their ass every night.

Who are the comparables you're using to get to 6 mil? Not a lot of defensive Dmen get over 5. If he wants to approach 6, he's going to need to position himself as a two way defender rather than the defensive conscience to Chabot.
I think he is a two way defender he might have the best first pass on the team.

Devastating blow to lose him. I hope they opt to calling someone up instead of playing Zaitsev.

Well at least dorion can see beforehand how costly losing Zub will be. Expecting us to win very minimal without our best shut down D
like 4 games in next 7?

Last year Pts percentage with last place at .610% is like playing 14 games with 8 wins 1 tie in 14 games (.607).

Part of the reason why there aren't a lot of RD available is because they typically re-sign with their teams.
True enough. And, not hard to guess that's because teams know that if they have a good or decent RD, resigning the player is a good idea versus taking a chance that you will find a replacement.

That's why I don't place too much stock on "this defender is a UFA and might be available". That player is just as, or potentially more likely to get resigned by his current team.

pierre really has to fix the D

Injuries happen and good teams overcome them

Lets see how the depth handles this

It would have been nice to see the team as it was meant to be constructed for 10 games.
True enough. It might still happen though, but maybe not until the end of year. That's the optimistic & hopeful view I guess.

Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things...
Although I am with ya on the hope... I think DJ goes with the NHL experience and Zaitsev for better or worse.

Thin on RD -> Thinner on RD.

This sucks. Facing the FLA teams with no Norris and no Zub. Our depth will be tested.

What did we do wrong to deserve this? Norris, now Zub.... All teams get injuries? We delt with years of various bucket loads of shit! It's our turn for some good things to happpen. This sucks.

Bear to Van for a 5th it seems....

Zub injured?

Time to tank hard for Bedard.

In all seriousness, Zub going down wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't Zaitsev who'll most likely eat his minutes considering DJ's love for him. We still have enough offense in the top 6 to stay competitive and play meaningful hockey all year long

When teams lose a top end D man, the #7 guy ends up playing or a call up that is playing top minutes in the AHL ends up playing.

Good teams don't have replacement level players stashed away when a player of Zub's calibre goes down.

Someone needs to step up. As is the case for every other team..

yes someone needs to step up but I don't think we are that deep on defense. If we had a strong 2nd pairing defensemen who could move up that would be good
