It's tough looking at the standings in other divisions knowing we would be 4th everywhere other than our division, smh.

We are 1st in our division in goal differential. Losing close games is a quick ticket to an early golf season.

Given we have 3 games left against the Islanders and are 8 points back (basically the same diff if Boston wins out their games in hand) - I think it may be more realistic to displace them IF we win those 3 games against them, which is obviously a big if

It’s true, but the 3 h2h vs the isles is really their only road in.

they’d have to win all 3 and just be one game better than them the rest of the way. It’s not likely, but there is runway there that still exists.

This is why the league needs to let the Top 16 teams in the league make the playoffs. You’re going to have a division or two that’s gonna have one or two teams that deserve to be in the playoffs that’ll miss simply due to geography. Have the division winners be the 1-4 Seeds. Then the remaining 5-16 seeds need to be based on points or point percentage. This way the 16 best teams in the league go to the playoffs. I know that with COVID that would be nearly impossible but this is how the playoffs should normally be.
