Your cynicism is well founded, I was just spitballing about possible solutions in a functional league so that rules out the NHL.
Oh yeah for sure. There is a world when big hits can still be a part of hockey - its just too bad the NHL isn't competent enough to figure it out

So the pundits were wrong. Whodda thunk it!

Flames have not been guilty of the collapse that the Jets have accomplished. Underwhelming? Yes. More deserving than the Jets? Yes. Call it less undeserving if you prefer.

Have to give Preds some kind of credit for the success they have had with the roster they are left with.
The 8 teams with the best record are the most deserving.

It remains to be seen if that's the Jets Flames or Preds

Sure, in some senses that's absolutely true. But it ignores too much.

Canucks are just as bad at us for not being able to get the puck out of their end. Now tied on two botched clearing attempts.

All tied up at 2 after the ref images a tripping call to manner the game. Flames score. All tied up with 11 minutes left and Fkanes controlling possession in the third.

Yeah that was one non existent penalty. He trips over the guy while all three are in a puck battle.

Well with a week left to go there isn't a single matchup determined or position clinched in the West yet. Of some interest, with Vegas losing in OT, and Edmonton winning again, the Oilers move to within 2 points of 1st of overall in the conference, with the tiebreaker advantage. Oilers get a WCF rematch in Colorado before finishing at home against San Jose. Vegas ends their season with a home and away against Seattle.

Kraken have now won 4 in a row to pull within 2 point of the Kings for 3rd in the Pacific, also with the tiebreaker advantage and a game in hand.

Colorado still has an outside shot at the #1 seed if they win out, 5 points back of the Knights with 2 games in hand both Edmonton and Vegas.

Games against Winnipeg and Nashville in the final two days of the season may still have some meaning though if Dallas wins out with a schedule of 3 games against non playoff teams, and the tiebreaker advantage in the Central going to the Stars.

Last week of the NHL regular season should be exciting, with some important positions in the standings and 3 playoff berths still on the line.

Anaheim Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler has set an NHL record for the most ice time in a regular season game with 38:55.

Fowler set the record during Saturday’s game against the Arizona Coyotes when he registered 38:55 of ice time in the Ducks' 5-4 OT loss. The Ducks had only been able to dress five defensemen after Scott Harrington was a late scratch for them, so Fowler had to step up and fill a lot of those minutes.

Bruins with the second best pts% of all time only behind the 76-77 mtl Canadiens (132 pts in 80gp)

132 is the most all time as well.

Wow, Seattle can take over third place with their win streak and the Kings losing streak. I hope it happens. I think the Kings would be a tougher opponent for the Central winner (likely the Avs).

Who would you rather play? Vegas or Edmonton
I’m kinda indifferent.
