Who we bring in and who we send out doesn’t really make a god damn difference unless we know who we are building around. We’re in no man’s land right now. We brought in complementary players like we’ve got top talent to compete for a cup but we just don’t have that. Doughty and Kopitar are not top 50 players anymore.

Byfield has to be our 1C for the rest of the season. Either he sinks or swims.

Fiala - Byfield - Kempe
Turcotte - Kopitar - Arvidsson
Dubois - Danault - Moore
Laferriere - Thomas - Kaliyev

Anderson - Clarke
Gavrikov - Doughty
Moverare - Spence

Or… we start selling at the deadline. Move Doughty, Kopitar, Fiala, Roy, Gavrikov, Arvidsson, and Dubois if we can.

Moore - Byfield - Kempe
Laferriere - Turcotte - Kaliyev
Grundstrom - Danault - Fagemo
JAD - Thomas - Lewis

Anderson - Clarke
Moverare - Roy
Englund - Spence

Unlikely scenarios here obviously, but I find it fun to think about.

Doughty - Chychrun
Spence - Gavrikov
Clarke - Anderson

That is sexy but a waste if they are playing in front of inconsistent goalies and forwards that can’t figure out how to score. Nice blend of offense and defense and nice age range. Not a lot of snarl though.

So we need a scorer is what you're saying?

Well it turns out you CAN fire a gm midseason. Ideally AEG would follow suit and pull the plug now instead of in April. Even if they’re preventing Blake from making trades like some here believe, he can still do plenty of damage through inaction. Get a caretaker gm in here to secure a decent return on Roy and Arvidsson at the very least.

Yea if that were to happen here, this is what I expect,

Los Angeles Kings Fire GM Rob Blake, Marc Bergevin assumes interim role

If the scorer is also a lights out goalie. With the talent on this roster we should not have a problem scoring. Team need a goal tender that inspires confidence to help boost effort.

its sad that our once championship organisation is devolving back into the loser hockey siberia it was tradionally for so many years.
if you were an nhl player would you want to be involved in this mess?

Hell yah, 3 wins in last 4....GO KINGS!

JUST IN: Charges against Boston Bruins player Milan Lucic dropped as prosecution declines to move forward with the case.
Was wondering about his case. I wonder if he comes back to the Bruins now.

Salary cap now should help keep team more relevant then previous.

The Rangers called up a beast of a player, all 6'7 and 240lbs of him, Matt Rempe. Luckily he's not in our division.

Can anyone give an update on Son of Sam Helenius? I notice he hasn't been fighting. That's disappointing, as he still needs to learn that craft to excel at the next level (the NHL). He's not going to learn it if he doesn't master it. And he's not going to master it, if he doesn't learn it. My recollection of his bouts from last season were: His head was too much of a still target. He needed to learn how to bob n weave to avoid TKO's. He's not learning this if he isn't fighting. There's always hope though, but he needs at least the occasional fight, like every 5 games or so. I think he's only fought once or twice this season. They say he's mean, but he's got to get angry!

I've watched only a few Ontario games from this year and last, so maybe someone who has seen most of the reign games can comment on how Helenius has been doing. However, from the times I've seen him play he obviously has the size but I wouldn't count on him being the next tough guy type rough and tumble player that we desperately need. Personally, I like that he's at least trying to take the roll of a tough power forward type player, but he's a terrible fighter that will need time to improve on his game. Definitely needs improvement in the fighting department. I like the kid hope he makes it one day.
