Kid wanted to make sure. Didn't want to go the Patrik Stefan route.

I'll never forget what an absolute douchebag Ray Ferraro was in his commentary on this one. The puck bounced on Stefan and Ferarro acted like he tried to pull down his pants and shoot it with his dick.

Guy put an exclamation point on an empty netter. Big f***ing deal. I don't even see how it's disrespectful. Should he have skated the puck into the empty net? Stopped at the line and tapped it in? lol He didn't deserve anything.
It is absolutely disrespectful to the opponent and the game.

And in a sport in which those you just offended are carrying lumber, you should know better.

Consider it a lesson learned.

I agree. I’ve played a lot of hockey in my life and I wouldn’t have given two shits about that move. I would’ve actually thought it was funny if he would’ve wound up, took a slapshot and missed.

No coming from a guy that has suffered two concussions in a three day span playing hockey in October of 2022 I can tell you the last year and a half of my life has not been normal, nor fun. Went from 80 to 90 games of hockey year with three teams to play every third game with my lowest caliber team. I was playing with and just try not to suffer headaches while on the ice or the next morning. Even after the MRI has said that my brain is good, I still have damage to the neck which seems to show up at the most in opportune times. Currently just sitting in a hot tub after a Physio appointment earlier today.

I used to be nonchalant about head shots but now I just can’t stand to watch somebody get hit in the head. There is accidental contact when players are moving at 20+ miles per hour where heads get clipped, but this case it was at a slower speed and deliberate. the guy should have the book thrown at him. I had kind of a similar incident about seven or eight years ago, where a guy did something dumb and I just turned around and two handed them right across the shin pads. The ref looked at both of us and sent him off on Sportman, like conduct and me for slashing. it said a tone, and that jackass has never done it again in the following years, we’ve played against them

It would be so douchey, but I would love to see these happen in the NHL. Just for the sake of making peoples heads explode.

As long as it doesn't happen to the Kings, obviously. Lol
Same. Except I hope someone does all of em against us.

It’s gonna be a lesson for Reilly, that’s for sure. Hopefully in the triple digits.

Found the dinosaurs who think violence is the answer!
No problem being called a dinosaur. We're getting further into the Cretaceous Period but we're not extinct yet.

Grieg absolutely deserved to get throttled. Reilly can't come in with a stick to the head: there shouldn't be any stickwork involved.

It's pretty funny that total p***y-ass NBA players have been upset recently when guys on the other team drop a windmill breakaway dunk with under 30 seconds left in a blowout yet so many posters on a hockey board think it is totally fine for someone to blast a slapshot from 10 feet out on an open net. This has always been an unwritten rule.

What that tells me is that it isn't so much a dinosaur thing but rather the impact of watching the turn-the-other-cheek Kings of the last ~10 or so years. Grieg can go ahead and do whatever he wants in that situation but he should expect to catch shit for it. The only problem here is that Reilly doesn't know how to properly dish out that punishment.

Its akin to water bottle popping a goalie then taking a drink out of it after. You lay a check on that guy. There is nothing dinosaur about it. You sheriff bad action. Don't hit them in the head, but you don't let them get away with s***. Give anyone in sports an inch they'll take a mile.

The pearl-clutching over a slapshot at an empty net is hysterical. It's like pitchers getting upset about a guy not running the bases "fast enough" after they blast a homerun off of them. Don't get beat. To the victors go the spoils losers.
There's certainly a line. If you stand there watching the homerun all the way until it lands before you even leave the plate, I could sympathize with the pitcher beaning him next time he's up.

Seriously, that picture posted that shows Rielly coasting back to chase Grieg sums it all up. Maybe if he skated harder Grieg wouldn't have had all that time to embarrass them even more. Yeah, it was a dick move, but he probably wanted to be a dick, his team won and he's the victor. Now Rielly looks even worse with his suspension. Want to get payback? Play better during the game. Play hard against Grieg and the Senators next game and beat them, don't go try and concuss the guy.

"This guy offended me and so I'm within my right to throw a ball at him and risk him serious injury."

Is that what you're really sympathizing with? How about he uses that energy and tries to throw a better pitch next time?

dont mind what either player did, reilly could have been smarter with his retaliation. anything over 3 games is egregious.
