Guy put an exclamation point on an empty netter. Big f***ing deal. I don't even see how it's disrespectful. Should he have skated the puck into the empty net? Stopped at the line and tapped it in? lol He didn't deserve anything.
‘It’s against the code… he deserved it‘. That’s the BS argument that we inevitably heard.

I prefer seeing what he did, he makes it more fun for the crowd which is actually the point. If that makes anyone feel disrespected then they need to suck it up and get some self respect.

The ‘code’ nonsense is constantly used to justify bad behaviour on ice and criticise things ‘we’ don’t like. It’s ever bending and changing to fit whatever narrative is being spun. The 5 games he got was the bare minimum for me.

It was 100% disrespectful, should have garnered a reaction, that reaction was 100% overreaction, both can be true.

The thing is you can believe in 'the code' and still believe Reilly deserved punishment. I don't know why folks keep spinning this argument like we think Reilly should be scot free.

Like I said before, I loved that Greig did it, and I love that Reilly stood up for his team. And he should be punished. It's not binary.

Some people believe in the code, some don't. That's it. I don't think either camp is worthy of the snobby derision as if the code believers are just cavemen and the non code believers are just the f***in twilight vampire balcony meme.

JT Miller hat-trick through two periods.

Sometimes the best trades are the ones you don't make.
10-7 Minne. Erickson Ek and Kaprizov with 3G 3A each. Thats gotta be pretty rare. Vancouver didnt yank DeSmith, I bet Demko really need a break.

The Rangers called up a beast of a player, all 6'7 and 240lbs of him, Matt Rempe. Luckily he's not in our division.

Can anyone give an update on Son of Sam Helenius? I notice he hasn't been fighting. That's disappointing, as he still needs to learn that craft to excel at the next level (the NHL). He's not going to learn it if he doesn't master it. And he's not going to master it, if he doesn't learn it. My recollection of his bouts from last season were: His head was too much of a still target. He needed to learn how to bob n weave to avoid TKO's. He's not learning this if he isn't fighting. There's always hope though, but he needs at least the occasional fight, like every 5 games or so. I think he's only fought once or twice this season. They say he's mean, but he's got to get angry!
Helenius is having a great year - he has 8 goals in 44 games. He plays a key role in the penalty kill - basically went from the 4th line center to the 3rd line center.

He's tough and nasty - pushes other teams players after face offs and is always yapping. He def plays tougher when Doty and Hodgson are in the line-up so he has some back up. I heard he spent this past summer training with Jeremy Clarke - who is a Kings scout, who owns an MMA gym in Minnesota - players like Nick Seeler also train there.

Helenius had a few good fights this year and already looks way better than he did last year. Stoll is a big fan of his, if you listen to interviews. 4 fights this year and 7 last year.

Likely, he will be a King in the 2025-6 season and possibly get a look next season - 2024-5.

Samuel once mentioned Brian Boyle as someone he patterned his game after, but he's way nastier and meaner and Boyle could barely fight. I would say he's a cross between Boyle and his own father (a D man), Sami.

He just turned 21, so he's really young still.

The craziest part of that game is MIN scored 7 of those goals in the 3rd.
Very crazy. Minne scored 5 goals in 5 minutes to start the 3rd.. talk about coming out strong in the 3rd.. 6 and 7 were empty netters at the end

Vilardi with 8 points in the last 3 games.
Jets are 13-0-1 when he gets a point or more. You guys were right though, he does get streaky and even admitted it himself the other day. When he's hot he looks like one of the best in the NHL

Once he ended the slump you knew it was coming. He’s been in all my DFS lineups the last 2 games.

There have been some wild streaky scorers, but this season by Vilardi really is all time. I follow the statistical stuff pretty closely and I can’t remember anything like the season he’s having.

He now has 20 points over his two big streaks (12 in 5) and (8 in 3). And 8 points in his other 26 games.

To put it in perspective, 20 points in 8 games is a 205 point pace.

8 points in 26 games is a 25 point pace.

Will be interesting to see which Vilardi shows up for the playoffs. Winnipeg has been a tough out during his hot streaks.

I’ve never used the caveman analogy (I don’t think so anyway) but I’ve seen it (the code) used to justify so much stuff at close quarters. It gets made up as we go along.

I see nothing wrong with a bit of show boating. We complain about the lack of personality off the ice, so we need to allow it on the ice as it goes hand in hand. Had Greig started getting players faces to celebrate or something along those lines then sure it’s disrespectful to me, but not in the way he did it. He was show boating to the crowd. Nobody thinks the cross check was Ok apart from Reilly but Greig shouldn’t expect to even drop the gloves as some suggested. It’s that stuff that holds the game back.

I can’t be bothered checking to see if it’s been posted but Villalta has played in 2 NHL games now. His numbers are not pretty but I’m pleased for him as he was a good soldier for us. Knowing me I either missed it months ago or did see it and forgot I commented already
