What's interesting about NJ, is that Luke Hughes made the team, but Nemec did not.....why are we optimistic that NJ knows what they are doing?

Minnesota, that's a whole other animal, as the last two spots were goign to be taken by ELC contracts no matter what their names were...

Let's talk about this midway in the season and see how many of these guys on playoff teams are actually making a difference, you have your Bedard and Fantilli which will absolutely make a difference, you have Luke Hughes beating out Nemec, so he might be one, other than that..on a playoff team...Knies maybe?

Keep shifting those goalposts. At the midway point I bet your response will be "let's talk after the season"

Puck drop tonight, I've missed hockey. Should be fun!

People hyping up Bedard vs Crosby. What a debut for the kid, gonna be interesting to see if he lives up to the hype right away.

Does Fagemo have a hat trick yet?

EDIT: appears he is scratched -- shocking

This is for everyone and not just @Herby . I honestly don't know how we fix the goaltending. I am not mad at the PLD signing as he is exactly what the Dr ordered. I am however not happy with the Moore signing. I am under the belief a Turcotte or Laferriere could have held down that spot at 1/4 the price.

In a very perfect world Blake finds a high class goalie to trade for on a team that wants Roy as the trade chip back. Frees up a spot for Spence and Clarke but in my mind it severely hurts our right side on the PK. I guess the same could be said about trading Moore however I don't think he holds a lot of value at this time.

Lets try and get Clarke into the Lineup: Two ways to do that, trade Spence or Roy:

Can you think of a 1 for 1 trade involving Roy and his $3,150,000 contract for a goalie with that amount on his contract or less that would be available?

I guess we can hope they take Roy and Copley to give us about 3.75 dedicated to the goalie and the other $900,000 to spend on Clarke's callup.

At work right now so I cannot check but off the top of my head maybe Boston with Swayman but I think he has a short track record?

Lets try and trade Spence? We know what we have but do others? Plus he makes basically league minimum so we would need the same coming back.

He definitely wont fetch Wallstedt or Askarov. Would Calgary do Wolf? I don't think his value would be to far off the above 2 rookies. I am sure for those three the ask would be Clarke. Plus we get an unproven goalie back. We just did that dance with Peterson.

Would love to fish Saros out of Nashville but they would need to take both Moore, Copley, + another player off of us to make the cap work. Not an appealing package for Nashville.

Our current goaltending looks like dog shit. It shouldn't be this hard to replace one of them with someone better. Someone help Blake figure this out or we all better start praying Talbot finds the fountain of youth.
A young goalie like Wallstedt, Askarov, Knight etc. should be a nonstarter. By the time those guys fully arrive as star goaltenders in a few years the Kings will be back in retool/rebuild mode depending on how much the over-30's decline. We need a goalie that is signed for a few years, is good right now and a bona-fide upgrade over what we have, so no more backups with 1B potential. Saros is ideal and I really think Blake should just pony up and give Nashville whatever they want for him at this point. That includes Clarke, who they can't even find a spot on the roster for anyway. The Kings are not a team that's gonna win a Cup without a goalie reliably stealing games.

What goal posts....yes, let's adulate teams that have rookies made the starting lineup, then watch as teams SCRATCH those rookies, or not....can we wait til they actually play a few games?

Herby's point was that other teams had rookies step right into the NHL and make the team and your response was let's wait and see until mid-season. Mid-season wasn't his point, right now is, and he's 100% correct.

OK. This is a perfect example of why I try not to roll my eyes every time I see you post. It's just impossible to engage in discussion because you immediately resort to ellipse and this insufferable "I'm smarter than you" attitude.

Except it goes back to my goddamn point, just MAKING THE TEAM is doens't mean a goddamn thing, let's talk when we are past the 10 game mark, past the 25 game mark, past the 50 game mark, I mean what goddamn good is it to MAKE THE TEAM....if you are a healthy scratch 49 out of 50 games? Yay...you MADE ?THE TEAM ?

It's not that I am smarter, though goddamn it sure feels like it sometimes, it's I don't come into this with a blind hatred of all thinks Blake.... Hey, 50 games into the season and Fagemo has 25 goals and 50 games played....I will join you in saying WTF happened there....but can we put away the RAH RAH BS of just MAKING THE TEAM?

Do you think this makes me want to discuss this with you?

In the span of 3 comments you've gone from a regular post, to using a bunch of ellipses, to all caps mode. You did this same thing a couple weeks ago and it's tired.

I honestly don't care if it wants you to discuss it with me or not, I am telling you exactly why I said what I said, the fact that you got offended because used caps, pretty much tells me it doesn't matter what the f*** I say, you are already disagreeing with it, I can say Gretzky was the greatest passer of all time, and you will go....well no, what about Larry Bird or some stupid shit like that....

In the span of 3 comments, my point has been the same the entire goddamn time.....it's not enough just to say you make a team, if you don't f***ing play.

Tell me again, how well did Fagemo do tonight because he made the team?

Its nuts Bedard steps right in and is totally effective like he's been in the league for years... crazy

Absolutely crazy right? How about Nemec, #2 OA, we get to see him tomorrow night step right in and.....wait....ok fine, Leo Carlsson.....we get to see him step right in?

Funny though how the argument is made that players can step right in and be effective.....like it's supposed to apply evenly to all prospects, all players, at all times,

Nuance seems to be a thing of the past, So Bedard steps right in and looks like he's been doing it for years, Laferriere, (NYR) doesn't, both #1 picks right, they should be both be handled the exact same,

I thought may have a learning curve like J Hughes.. but nope. It is weird how some guys just translate right away and others dont.

Difference of leagues, Jack played with the US National Team, great program etc, but you are gonna be more pro ready playing in the CHL than with the US National team....just a different animal

Everyone's been looking at his shot and hands and rightfully so but at his size he's gotten by with a brain like McDavid/Crosby and elusiveness of Gretzky-lite. It's that processing that translates.
