What about Ralph Kruger?

He was terrible in his one year as a head coach and doesn't have an impressive record as an Assistant.

I think it is only Calgary fans that pine for him because the story of him being fired is funnier if they bump him up to being a better coach than he was.

If he had the same track record with out the Skype firing people would be furious if he was the GG replacement.

Lindy Ruff would be a solid option, he's currently an assistant with the NYR. Probably will be promoted to head coach in a couple of weeks after Vigneault is fired though.

Hopefully Washington gets swept in the first round and they fire trotz. Knowing the flames they won't even interview him though. :(

Seriously though fire the coaches . Also fix the bottom 6.

Trotz's contract is up after this season. They also refused to let their assistant coach do interviews for head coaching jobs last off season so the belief is he will be replacing Trotz.

That same assistant coach was a finalist for the Flames job a few season ago but lost out to Gulutzan. When it was rumoured between him and GG, I was hoping it would be him but alas here we are.

Not really all that surprising considering he's going to Harvard after all. Something tells me he gets packaged in a trade this offseason.

Pls flames. Pay this man.

Also I doubt fox signs with us. I'm not surprised he's going back. But next year he either can go pro or commit to his final year and get a Harvard degree. I wouldn't blame him for getting the degree. However if he does go back for that final year, flames have like 2 months to sign him before he goes free agent at which time I wouldn't be surprised if he just waited it out.

I know we signed Gaudreau and Janko but I just doubt fox signs with us . Like if you were him and saw flames almost never put a rookie dman in the lineup what does that show you? Stone needs to be gone this offseason just for Andersson and then fox still has to find room .

We can’t lose this guy, seriously. But I could see him feeling he won’t get a good opportunity here. If Andersson makes the jump next year locks up a spot, he’s going to be 4th on the depth charts.

I think he's already better than Stone and his offensive hockey sense reminds me of Wideman. Footspeed's a bit of an issue but Stone is no burner either.

31 Thoughts: Will the Calgary Flames trade for a first-round pick? - Sportsnet.ca
12. Word out of the GM meetings is Calgary GM Brad Treliving will look to add a first-round pick in this year’s draft. The Flames traded their 2018 selection to the Islanders in the Travis Hamonic deal, and will try to replace it. That would likely mean a major move, but the way this season is ending necessitates something big.

15. Brandon Hickey, traded to Arizona as part of the Mike Smith deal, is playing for Boston University at the NCAA’s Northeast Regional this weekend. Sounds like the Coyotes will try and move him, not seeing a fit to sign. Hickey is finishing his senior season.

If Hickey walks from Arizona, the trade would end as a 2018 3rd for Mike Smith @ 25% retained.

I could see a team paying a late 1st for Fox.

Other assets that could fetch a 1st are:

Monahan
Backlund
Gaudreau
Tkachuk
Gio
Hamilton
Brodie
Hamonic
Andersson

Maybe fetch a late 1st:

Bennett
Ferland
Janks
Fox
Dube

So if we’re trying to recoup a 1st, that’s what we’re looking at.

If our first turns out to be the last pick before the playoff teams then I feel like we should trade for an upgrade on the wings unless there is somebody really good available.

Why trade for a pick when there are proven players out there to get?
