Hopefully Washington gets swept in the first round and they fire trotz. Knowing the flames they won't even interview him though. :(

Seriously though fire the coaches . Also fix the bottom 6.

I honestly think the bottom 6 would be fixed under an appropriate coaching change. The guys struggling on the bottom 6 right now IMO would flourish in Hartley's system. Gully's system is like tying an arm behind their back. Playing physical and grinding down the other team messes up Gully's system. However, it's a major facet in a system like Tippett or Sutter's system which those guys would excel in IMO.

I would not blame Fox one bit finishing his degree. It's Harvard. That wouldn't be indicative of him not wanting to sign here in my opinion. But if hockey doesn't pan out, imagine having a Harvard degree. Is he on a scholarship, does anyone know? If he is he'd be foolish to give that up. Going back costs money, plus finishing a degree after years away not being used to the schooling isn't easy.

That degree is worth a hell of a lot

Harvard doesn't give out sports scholarships (i don't think any Ivy league school does) but I think they subsidize the players with grants and other moneys somehow. I am sure someone will know more about how it works than I do.

I know everyone is saying that we need a winger(which is true) but what would you guys say, to getting a center(our center position can also use a upgrade), this will help with the depth upfront. This was posted a little back and it look's good.

Gaudreau-Monahan-S. Bennett
Tkachuk-Zibanejad-Ferland
New LW-Backlund-Frolik
Shore-Jankowski-Brouwer

Gio-Hamilton
Andersson-Hamonic
Kulak-Stone

Smith
Rittich

What do you all think?

Brodie+Fox for Zibanejad +Bruins 1st round or Tampa Bays(the pick will be the lowest one, say Bruins go deeper in the playoffs than the Lighting, than the Flames get the Bruins pick.) Fox is going to Harvard and he might not want to come here.

Who's at Coach position?

Coach Q or Darryl Sutter and they pick their own assitants.

We will have cap space sign James van Riemsdyk to play with Backlund.

I would like to see some minor change ups. How about something like
Brodie for chychrun
Bennett + Fox for Galchenyuk

After watching this whole season, i really feel like Brodie isn’t ever going to be the same defenseman on the left side and we should trade him while we can. Chychrun is a very young steady top 4 defenseman, who plays the left side. Gally bring us some guaranteed right side offense and can play anywhere in the top 9

Don't think Arizona would consider moving Chychrun. They are really high on him.

I think the team you drew up has tons of depth. Only one thing that could be even better is getting rid of Brouwer and bringing in someone from AHL

I think Brouwer under a head coach like Coach Q or Darryl Sutter may rebound(key word is may), just buy him out(if you think he would take a spot from a kid that deserves it.)

So Hamilton has found his way into trade rumours, surprising nobody.

Friedman | Flames may be trying to land first-round pick

While this is just conjecture, I don't think Dougie is the guy you trade because you need to recover futures and that would be a pretty bad move. Without another top-flight defenseman coming back that puts Hamonic on the top pairing; that's just way too thin on the right side.

Brodie for Chychrun is a rip off for the Flames, I think you can find someone dumb enough to do a Hall for Larrson type trade(where Brodie is Larsson) for Brodie(we won't get a player of Hall caliber but you get my point.

I would not do Bennett +Fox for Galchenyuk either(I have not seen anything in Galchenyuk.)

The Flames are better off making a package of TJ Brodie+Fox+Sam Bennett(if they want to trade any of these guys.

All of these sensationalist pieces about how we must consider shipping off a major core piece are hilarious. If you didn't look at the standings you might think we're gonna finish with 60 points this season based on the general tone of these articles

I’m pretty high on Galchenyuk, I think away from the cesspool that is Montreal right now he could be a real offensive force. And you think brodie for chychrun is a rip-off? I don’t think so, chychrun is 19 years old and looks good playing a top 4 role, even if he’s never going to put up Brodie’s numbers

Are people still incapable of delineating between random musing and legit insider information? Or is the concept of words having actual definitions a foreign concept? Or even worse, the sheer laziness of assuming every word out of an "insiders" mouth constitutes a rumor?

Because that's not a rumor, that's literally just Friedman putting two and two together; Flames have had an incredibly disappointing season + they may shake up their core because of leadership issues + defence is a position of strength + Hamilton is easily the most valuable piece on the back end = "I could see teams calling Calgary and saying, ‘What are you thinking about here.’"

Nowhere does Friedman actually suggest in anyway, shape, or form that Hamilton's on the block, or that anyone even is. The only real takeaway from all of this is literally just that Treliving would like a first rounder; that's it.

Anyway, if Treliving doesn't realize that this wasted season is largely on the inept coaching coupled with a lack of offensive depth, and instead makes a panic (i.e. stupid value) trade involving core pieces while keeping the coach around, then all hope is lost and this franchise will forever be doomed to mediocrity. At least until they get better ownership.

The real issue this summer will be stopping folks from seriously over-analyzing what went wrong. This roster doesn't need massive changes; it needs a competent coach and some offensive skill up front. Fire Gulutzan and Cameron, hire Trotz/Quenneville/Vigneault, throw money at one of Neal/JVR/Perron and watch them compete for the division next season.

If I'm making crazy moves, I'd do a "quality for quantity" trade with Phoenix for Dougie+. I think Chayka values him the highest and would pay the premium necessary to acquire Dougie. I'd target OEL and Domi, but I don't know what we have to add on our side to make it happen. I feel like our top 4 is more balanced with a Gio - Brodie/Hamonic pairing and a OEL + Stone (chemistry) pairing. We'd unlock Dougie's value and allow Brodie to work through things as a 2/5 since his value is so low.

I'd then trade Ferland+ to Toronto for a reasonable RW (Kapanen?) as they're looking for a guy to play top line LW, which he has proved he can do. His value is highest now while he's on his current contract. If he succeeds, great. But we probably cannot afford to up him. If he doesn't we unlocked value that we would have lost. I'm unsure of the plus needed, but I don't feel like it's anything obscene that we cannot afford to move.

If someone is crazy enough to overpay for Andersson, I'd consider it. He'll be good, but currency for flexibility to address future needs is nice to have.

For the 13th guy, I'm thinking Stajan on a 1.5 ish x 1. I don't think there's anyone within that price range that is as good value to be sitting in the press box half the time who can do reasonably well when slotted in cold. Good guy and a familiar face around the dressing room. I'd pencil him in to be a winger, not as a C. Our bottom 6 C needs to develop. The only other name I can think of who might be a good 13th guy option to half rot in the press box based on our needs is Derek Grant. But I'd assume the Ducks want to keep him.
