Are people still incapable of delineating between random musing and legit insider information? Or is the concept of words having actual definitions a foreign concept? Or even worse, the sheer laziness of assuming every word out of an "insiders" mouth constitutes a rumor?
Because that's not a rumor, that's literally just Friedman putting two and two together; Flames have had an incredibly disappointing season + they may shake up their core because of leadership issues + defence is a position of strength + Hamilton is easily the most valuable piece on the back end = "I could see teams calling Calgary and saying, ‘What are you thinking about here.’"
Nowhere does Friedman actually suggest in anyway, shape, or form that Hamilton's on the block, or that anyone even is. The only real takeaway from all of this is literally just that Treliving would like a first rounder; that's it.
Anyway, if Treliving doesn't realize that this wasted season is largely on the inept coaching coupled with a lack of offensive depth, and instead makes a panic (i.e. stupid value) trade involving core pieces while keeping the coach around, then all hope is lost and this franchise will forever be doomed to mediocrity. At least until they get better ownership.
The real issue this summer will be stopping folks from seriously over-analyzing what went wrong. This roster doesn't need massive changes; it needs a competent coach and some offensive skill up front. Fire Gulutzan and Cameron, hire Trotz/Quenneville/Vigneault, throw money at one of Neal/JVR/Perron and watch them compete for the division next season.
