If we chase a big name UFA it has to be a defenseman, we're doing well building forward depth though the draft and marginal free agent/trade additions, I wouldn't spend big dollars on a UFA winger

Marner going for short term deal? The dude is only interested in cashing the biggest cheque he can get. He is for sure looking for an 8 year 12+ million deal from Toronto, and if they don't give it to him I bet he wants to get traded so he can sign the 8 year max with that team. We should have zero interest in Marner in my opinion.

So refreshing to have a fun GM. Even if MG makes some puzzling ass moves at least he has balls. Revamping the entire D over one season including offloading cans with term is actually impressive. Now let's see a Smith trade.
