The problem with fox is he can just walk away from us or whichever team we might trade him to, so his value isn’t nearly what it should be.

I agree, Fox is gonna be another Ghost. His talent and IQ are undeniable. I can’t wait until he hopefully QB’s our PP.

His skating is so much worse than Gostibehere's I am not sure he will be able to be at that level.

And while his IQ may (and that is a huge may) be good offensively, defensively he makes some terrible decisions and doesn't have the foot speed to recover in time.

He seems like a guy that can dominate in lower levels because the guys aren't good enough to take advantage of his skating but once he gets to the NHL level where everyone is a better skater than he is he will really struggle to translate it.

He also seems like a guy that will put up big numbers in the AHL and Europe and people will always think he should be brought back to the NHL.

Even then, I'm not so sure. You don't sink that kind of money into a Harvard education to leave early. Fox would have to be 100% sure he is going to be a star for him to leave Harvard early. Spending 4 years getting a world-class eduction won't hamper his development as a hockey player.
Exactly what I was saying. Harvard isn't just any school. Anyone would be foolish to leave early to be quite honest

Considering he isn't there on scholarship and they don't bend the rules for athletes couldn't he finish his year this year and still be able to go back?

I know they said that Ryan Donato was still going to class while playing for Boston, which is made easier for him obviously being in Boston, but there can't be that many more weeks of class left for Fox. Even if he doesn't play this year but just signs that shouldn't stop him from getting a degree.

He’s not on scholarship?

Ivy league doesn't give out athletic scholarships.

I think they do give out help based on financial need and I am not sure how that works or if athletes get it moreso than a regular student.

But no he is not on a full ride scholarship like if he went to Michigan St. or Minnesota.

Now as I mentioned I am not fully sure how it works with hockey players so maybe he does get a lot more benefits from being a hockey player than he would if he were joe blow, although I think his contract likely could help offset that as he will get a decent chunk of money at the minimum.

An education of that level isn't something you want to take a break from. Doing 3 years of Harvard, being gone for several years, then trying to come back to finish the last year would be a nightmare.

Plus peace of mind having it done.

Ya the eight Ivy Leagues don't dish out scholarships for recruited athletes but they do dish out financial aid/benefits.

Ivy League tuition is wild too. I think Princeton is like 50g a year and they are considered the least expensive for Ivy League schools.

He’s not on scholarship?

According to wiki:

"As an Ivy League institution, Harvard does not offer athletic or academic scholarships to students. However, Harvard does provide need-based financial aid to those students who demonstrate financial need."

So no. None of the Ivy league schools give our athletic scholarships, just the financial aids.

I would do Hanifin+Aho for Dougie Hamilton in a heartbeat, what about you guys?
Did you honestly even consider this from the Canes point of view? Hanifin is a 21 year old top pairing D and Aho a 20 year old 1st line winger. They probably wouldn't trade either one alone for Dougie.

I know they probably won't do it, I was just responding to the poster who was saying what he would trade Dougie Hamilton for.

lol why? That's easily the worst proposal I've seen around here in a long time. A long time.
I expected a better response from you.

1. The Flames are supposedly looking for a 1st and of the things that could get us one, this is the type of package that would hurt us the least.
2. In that particular scenario shedding Frolik's contract makes signing Tavares possible
3. Kylington has enough value to push Frolik's value from a 2nd to a 1st

Not the guy you're replying to, but I'd rather keep Kylington unless we're getting something to help right now. I'm also not a fan of putting Bennett in that 3rd line RW spot. If anything, we should give him some top 6 minutes on Backlund's left side.
