Shanahan needs to put a complete ban on bringing in any player or personnel with any connection to the Soo Greyhounds or even the town of SSM.

Time for Shanahan to take away Dubas' toys.
Lmao shanahan is part of the problem. Shanahan, Dubas, and Keefe are all under 1 umbrella in terms of mindset and strategy.

Getting rid of just one of those people wont make a difference. Leafs need a whole philosophical change from top to bottom.

Yup Curtis Douglas about to become MVP for Arizona.
He had over .5PPG over a full year on the 4th line playing with Rich Clune. Then, they came in this year and buried him on the 4th line and he had a poor 13 game stretch. They never really gave him an opportunity up the lineup. Give the man some minutes, some linemates, same as the other departed grinders. I think he is more likely to be a contender for the HW belt on someone's 4th line some day, but I didn't initially think Mason Marchment could improve to his new level either, so maybe an Adam Lowry type 3C.

There's a difference between having Size and USING Size. Just look at the players we have on the current roster. Justin Holl, Pierre Engvall, David Kampf....all are softer than butter. They're allergic to finishing checks.

Im almost 100% sure this Timmins guy is gonna be another softie even though he's 6'2. So pathetic

So you have no idea who Timmins is, or how he's played in the past then?

Defensive Game

Conor Timmins is very physical in his own end of the rink. Forwards have to keep their head up on his side of the ice, as he is always looking to make an impact with a big hit. He maintains good gap control, and uses an explosive lower body to just explode into the hit. Timmins is also physical in the corners and in front of the net.

Yeah I'll admit I have no clue about Timmins game. I'm merely going off the pattern of "Big" players the Dubas goes after.

If Timmins is actually a player who is physical and uses the body then I'll be the first to first praise Dubas. Too bad anyone who puts on a Leaf jersey ends up getting neutered anyways

It’s only weird in the sense that how come every solution came out of the Soo Greyhounds. Like Stelleck drafting 3 Belleville Bulls in the first round of 1 draft.

Funny reading the over reactions from some of the size queens in here. Lots of shoot first and ask questions later in here. Not a good look on some of ya lol

Though it's not as if they did this out of spite. He looked pretty underwhelming to start the year. If he wants to eventually see an NHL debut he's got a lot of work to personally go through.

Especially if he wants to make it as an energy guy. Too often he looks disengaged when he should be hounding the puck. Hopefully for him he can.change things around in Arizona w

Dubas went after Curtis Douglas. He can be physical.

Muzzin wasn't physical? Benn hasn't been physical? Boosh? Ritchie? Simmonds? Clifford?

Honestly, I think that's a myth, though I do agree we need more physicality on the back end, and in the lineup.

Funny enough, I had posted in the trade thread, before Timmins even reached the NHL, that we should trade for him... that was before the injuries of course. This was a kid, who was well on his way to becoming a top 4 RD, with size, physicality, skating and offensive ability too. At this point, he may not be able to salvage a NHL career.. but I like the odds he does, over what I've seen from Douglas this year.

It's perfectly normal to be upset about acquiring a player you've never seen before based on your entirely made up scouting report

Just because Douglas is 6-9 doesn't mean he's a physical player. Some of you act like we lost a chara, when really we lost a tall roll of toilet paper.

You intrigued me with the bit on Timmins being physical so I looked into it. Turns out he had just 18 hits in 31 games in his largest sample size, he has another 9 hits scattered over his other 12 NHL games. There were also no fights on hockeyfights.com. Just from the numbers I'd say he might be grittier than Brodie and Mete, but that's about it.

Whatever move for me

Fits a depth need we give up the Bruno cobaclo of hockey

Wish he wasn't from the soo because that's kinda getting weird but it's a no downside in the near future move

Well here it is. Cant wait to watch another guy do fly-bys on the board

Not really. It’s because it seems that Dubas penchant for picking Soo Players may be causing him to pass by possibly better options

But in this particular situation do you really think that's the case? Like any other young D men who were available fright away for a swap with Douglas?

Reads to me like this was a fortune situation - one team unable to fit a guy on their roster + the Leafs needing a fresh body immediately.

Leafs believed in him enough to offer him an NHL contract. It might work out for him. Good luck to him. We obviously needed a defenseman and we got one.
