Simmonds didn't get claimed... for good or bad, which I guess resulted in a need for a trade, instead of claiming Timmins off waivers... which they probably had discussions with Arizona about.

I haven't heard anything about when he'll join... I guess as soon as possible... probably want to get in a practise or two before throwing him out there.

Marchment and Douglas names shouldn't be spoken about in the same sentence. Have you even watched the Marlies this year?
Didn't they need to waive someone first(Simmonds) before they could add another player to the roster(Timmins)?
Doesn't matter if they were claimed or not.

Timmins actually played in NHL
Douglas will never come close

Really dont' understand some of your obsessision with Douglas
He already traded them Nick Ritchie. Ritchie has 16 goals and 24 points in 41 games since he's gone to Arizona. pacing for 32 goals over a full 82 games. But I guess he wasn't good enough for our team, we had Pierre Engvall.

We had Mason Marchment, but you know what Dubas thought might be a good idea? Swapping him for 5'9 4th line offensive boost Denis "Malkin" Malgin.

We had the "The Dream" locked up for 3 years at 4.5M and he went on to win a stanley cup and have the best years of his career somewhere else. Dubas traded him for a 5'9 Dman on an expiring deal and Alex "The Real Deal" Kerfoot.

He has his philosophy and not only do I disagree with it, but he's kind of watering down Leafs games for me, my eyes hurt after watching so many twirls and spins from all these 5'9 wingers.

If you think this doesn't come back to bite him in the ass, then you should look closer at the pattern.

I guess Rielly is too high in the lineup?
I just think Timmins is better in an offensive d man role like Rielly is so a partner who is smart and will cover for him to allow him to do his thing would be best imo. Him and Rielly would probably be a disaster together.

One of the games I’ve watched this year. I was kind of stunned by his complete non-reaction. I mean, ok, you aren’t playing well, at least stand up for your teammates. And. Nothing.

Part of the attraction of having him, was a big guy who could stand up for his team mates, and he couldn’t even do that this year.

I’ve seen one poster suggest we should have given him a chance in the NHL, clearly someone who hasn’t seen that he wasn’t even good enough in the AHL this year, couldn’t keep up with the play, and wasn’t physical.
I will add to this I thought Douglas had a shot to compete for a 4th line role in camp...he wasn't even noticed.

I saw tweet last night by someone pointing out Timmins is a former Soo.
So it was inevitable Dubas traded for him.

I have followed him much longer than just this year. I am aware of his strengths and weaknesses. My hope of him one day being a 4th liner on the Leafs who’s tough and can play a shutdown role aren’t overly huge.

On the other hand it seems you may not be up to speed on Timmins. He’s really no better right now than Mete or Hollowell.

I was one of the first to mention him last year on the board after watching him. Obtaining a Mete, or Hollowell, is an improvement over this years version of Douglas.

Exactly this lol. You can’t win the playoffs without size. This is also really not in relation to this thread, but Dubas’ is building a figure skating team, not an NHL championship roster. What baffles me is he keeps doing it over and over expecting different results.

Yup Curtis Douglas about to become MVP for Arizona.

I hear what you are saying but dam this team has a crazy amount of Soo players. It seems like it’s Dubas’S only move
True enough. I believe all GM's have their biases for certain players that they have associations with just most have been out of junior so long they aren't going back to that well.

Timmins is a good Thorold boy, comes from a good family, he just needs to be healthy and this is an easy win.

Timmins is 6'2".. and might be able to play in the NHL. He IS size.

Douglas can barely play in the AHL.

It baffles me that people are so concerned about size, that they overlook that you actually have to be able to play hockey.

Leafs spent ample time modifying his game, raved about how we may have something special just need to give it a little time as he’s still raw then trade him? Seems like they nerfed something in his development, and now they’re admitting their mistake and moving on. I really just commented on how we can’t develop big players. The “value” is okay I guess… essentially a depth d man now for possibly a 4th liner later on.

Good info. Thx.
It does seem that the “he just needs to be healthy” has become the battle cry of the Leafs.

I doubt Arizona wants to claim him unless they play him every day.

850k is a lot for a depth guy in ARI.

Let's hope both players thrive.

This is a nothing move, and I had hope for Douglas, but maybe that NHL contract went to his head?

Shanahan needs to put a complete ban on bringing in any player or personnel with any connection to the Soo Greyhounds or even the town of SSM.

Time for Shanahan to take away Dubas' toys.

There's a difference between having Size and USING Size. Just look at the players we have on the current roster. Justin Holl, Pierre Engvall, David Kampf....all are softer than butter. They're allergic to finishing checks.

Im almost 100% sure this Timmins guy is gonna be another softie even though he's 6'2. So pathetic

Yeah I was waiting for someone to bring that up. The man mountain of intimidation really didn’t do much there.
Add to that 1 assist in 13 Marlies games and a poor camp and things weren’t looking too good for his future with us.

He was a unique project. Nothing wrong with testing him out.
