I don't see enough of the Marlies to be able to weigh in on Douglas. So I'll defer to those who those who say he has been bad this year. But he's played, what, thirteen games? I wouldn't write a guy off after that, particularly since he showed some promise last year. It's also hard not to be enamored, even superficially, with a a big centerman like that.

I like everything I've heard about Timmins, though, and I don't mind Dubas taking a flyer on a guy with injuries. Bit of risk there, but he wouldn't be available for this price if he didn't have that baggage. If he stays healthy, the trade could look pretty shrewd.

It's a wait and see type of deal that's hard to judge in the abstract.

Can he not trade one of the small players .f*** me he's an idiot.
He's he allergic to a big guy that can fight.
f*** I hate this goof
He will end up in the NHL like Marchment..
One of these days mathews is going to get knocked out because Sandin won't be around.
Timmins is 6'2 has size and hits.
Douglas was on the ice when kallgren got ran and didn't fight, stood there watching....
Chill out, jeezes these hot takes are something else.

Trades a barely physical AHL 4th line C for a physical D who dipped his toes in the NHL…. Yet Dubas ignores physicality

At least pick your battles appropriately

But in this particular situation do you really think that's the case? Like any other young D men who were available fright away for a swap with Douglas?

Reads to me like this was a fortune situation - one team unable to fit a guy on their roster + the Leafs needing a fresh body immediately.
This case may be simply the luck of the draw but don’t you find it strange that our GM original from the Soo goes after so many Soo players

Is he healthy now?
Can he go to the Marlies or needs waivers?

I think the explanation twitter they were worried he couldn't clear waivers so I guess he's our defacto 7th D OR we waive him later on, he gets claimed and we're back to 49/50.

Yeah but let’s not pretend Dubas if the first GM to lean towards similar places for players.

We have seen a lot of shuffling of similar players between the Oilers/Flames/Canucks.. some GMs deal better with certain agents so they sign players affiliated with them, and some GM’s draft from similar leagues/countries

They gave him last year too. And Dallas gave him 2 years also.

But more importantly, this is not necessarily TOR giving up on the player. They traded away a minor asset for a minor roster need.
Trading a player doesn't always mean your done giving them time

Plus Timmins isn't really small either, if you're just interested in size

I’ve been told size doesn’t matter, right?

Douglas literally stood around and did nothing while Kallgren got ran and injured. Like stared right at him

Douglas has 8 fighting majors in 80 games with the Marlies, 1 in rookie camp and has had multiple double roughing calls. That is pretty good.

Timmins has 42 hits in 51 NHL games.

Stats.

Timmins is also -10 in 6 games in the AHL and we want him in the NHL.

On the surface it's a good trade.

Timmins has the potential to become much more than Douglas.

Douglas was what? Maybe 10th to 12th on the depth chart to be called up for forwards? No loss.

Douglas hurts to give up if only for the "What if?" but this is a good trade. Even if some of you don't want to admit it.

We get an extra NHL RHD, which we sorely needed with injuries piling up, and take a flyer on a former top prospect putting it together.

Oh wow sue me for saying i wondering if this Kid actually uses his size given the buttercups we have on the roster over 6'1
You didn't say you were wondering, you said you were almost certain and called the trade pathetic based on literally nothing. It's not my fault you chose to be ridiculous

It's noticable, but I don't think there's anything overtly odd about it. Not the first time a GM has been drawn to a background area they have a closer connection to

Burke was the same with guys from Team USA/US National Development Program while he was here.

Oh look where he played Jr.

This seems like when Ballard wouldn't the scouts travel farther than Belleville.

Cool an opening tanking team wanted to waive a dman who wasn't good enough to play for them, has crazy injury history and is a complete unknown.

Dubas says "that's exactly what my contending team needs!"
I can't believe they are done trading for the year. So can't go over the top like this.
