The lineup has been a complete mish mash since the TDL. Seems like Keefe has no idea what he's doing with the team since the new additions.
yep too many unneeded changes and now Keefe is scrambling to find out where everyone fits. It's not even like you can look at the moves in their totality as a strong positive. A lot of them were just changes for the sake of making changes, which is weird to do with a winning team

This team isn't serious about taking the next step. No way they find another gear in the playoffs. Unbelievable there is a large group of Dubas supporters that think he should remain the GM of this team, each year the team gets further away from being a contender.

Matthews, Marner and Nylander will take major steps in top dollars with their next contract negotiations! :sarcasm:

Since the TDL and Sheldon Keefe galaxy braining the F outta the systems and team (excluding tonights 7 GAA embarassment) the avg GAA is 7 games total 24 GA (about 3.4 GAA);

and including tonight's disaster its 8 games and 31 GA total (about 3.9 GAA)

thats a great way to instill confidence in your defense and goalies there coach. good stuff......

The longer we let this coaching ineptitude go and let the lunatics run the asylum, the more we're going to have to resort to replacing Keefe with a hardass, like John Tortorella. Have a talk with Philly and do it tomorrow. I don't care what Keefe's record is. He doesn't know what he's doing and any points the Leafs get are in spite of Keefe, not because of him.

How has the system changed?

Interesting coach so what u going to do about it if shit like this happens in playoffs? which it most likely will as has been the case in the last 3 playoff series

And they can take Shanahan, the NHL mole, with them as far as I'm concerned!!!

I am pretty sure that Shanahan hates Toronto. I remember watching him give an interview on one of his cars in the early 2000s. When he was asked about playing for the Leafs all he did was bash them.

I got the opposite vibe from Ken Dryden. Dude seemed to love the organization despite being a Habs legend.

Keefe needs to just needs to go back to basics and put the Big 4 together in whatever pairing suits and pad out a 3rd and 4th line of lesser lights, put Rielly Brodie together, then assemble the next most trusted D pair, and the one after that. Don't have to use every crayon all at once.

Side question though

Does Bunting still get that 5 ×7 year deal as some of you were proposing?
Ya, with another team hopefully. Guy is a complete clown. We don't need help turning the officials against us. Which is exactly what Bunting has done woth his antics.

Agreed. Guy is a Red Wing at heart anyway.

His old teammate built a champion in Tampa. Sakic built a champion is Colorado. Brind'Amour is coaching a championship caliber team in Carolina. All while Shanahan sits idle in Toronto with the two rookies running the show. It's an absolute crime what the fans of this franchise get put through year after year.

That quote could have been Korpisalo in 2020, Price in 2021 or Vasilevskiy in 2022.

Your team can't play inside because it's not using speed and physicality to break down a park the bus stance and ends up circling around the zone like it's a Costco parking lot on a weekend.

Maybe the front office could have learned from those series and targeted players that could help, rather than stack the press box with the best collection of #7-9 defensemen the league has ever seen. I think the ideal way to score in the playoffs and how the Leafs are constructed to generate offense are just not a match, no matter what the coach wants to do.

But as to the other part of what Keefe was talking about, that is on him. He should be able to instill a sense of defensive structure that doesn't see so many senseless turnovers and so little pushback in games where they're losing.
Good luck to Keefe taking these last 10 games to fix a limp offense and sloppy defense, I'm sure it will work out
