Post-Game Talk: Another week, another embarrassing loss

Without a doubt the most embarrassing loss of the season. Giveaways galore, completely outskated and outworked. Game was going well until Liljegren fanned on a pass (which boy he sure has done a lot recently) and the cascading giveaways the Isles made no mistake on. Mitch and Rielly combining for another brutal giveaway after just pulling within one was the nail in the coffin and they just gave up afterwards.

Lines have no chemistry, no help for Samsonov, no heart, no brains. Keefe refuses to settle on lines and pairings, and once again the Leafs get dominated. I’m sure the next game he makes lineup combo #25 will be the correct one.

Great game to miss so I’m glad I had to work most of it and not get pumped to watch only to be left disappointed again. Tuned in to watch the Marner goal only to watch his terrible pass that lead to the clutterbuck goal followed quickly by the 5th goal and that was that.

im still holding out hope O’Reilly can elevate this heartless team in the playoffs with his leadership, toughness, and tenacity … because without him (and maybe Acciari) this team is who we thought they are, gutless choking losers plain and simple

You know weirdly, after that Caps playoff loss, I really wanted the Leafs to look like what the Islanders do now. But with Matthews, Marner and Nylander. Great goaltending. Excellent defensive system, but with 3 game breaking players.

Then things went awry. We signed an 11mil guy to be our 2nd line centre and had to sacrifice so many other guys to keep him here.

So frustrating. I remember reading pretty much everyone's ATL threads and fans of all other teams were adamant the Leafs would win a cup in the following few years.

It's just seemed to be make it up as we go along for 5 years now.

I'm honestly a bit concerned about Keefe vs Cooper.

Though this a regular season blip and no Brodie and O'Reilly makes a big difference. But I want to see better lines, better match ups and smarter decisions from Keefe. Hoping Schenn comes in for Holl as well.

Keefe's ability to adjust is non existent IMO. If you actually really look at last 3 playoff series losses it has been either:

opposition gets the lead and then clogs neutral zone leafs play perimeter hockey
OR
Leafs play fancy BS and then opposition transitions with odd man rush and scores

people here blame goalies, defense and what not but Keefe always gets away scott free.

CBJ beat us like that, Has beat us like that; heck even bolts beat us like that.

Cooper's playoff pedigree, running his lines, coaching on the fly and ability to get his guys going is much higher; keefe doesn't have the galls or the brains.

Cooper recently benched Stamkos, Kucherov and Point because they were playing like absolute trash against the sabres. They sat entire 3rd period on the bench.

We could have had prime Gretzky and Keefe will find a way to galaxy brain the playoffs into losing the series

You really should watch Sammy's videos from last year. This is who he is.
His wife expecting or not expecting has nothing to do with it

Three things were true last round 1.

Point was less than 100%

Kucherov was less than 100%

Muzzin shut everything in his path down.


All of these are false this season (Kuch and Point back to elite is especially scary) yet everyone is so cocky we are favorites in round 1. I truly believe we have regressed to under dogs.


Hot take: out of the 4 teams (Boston Tampa Toronto and probably Rangers) battling to get into the cup finals from the east, Leafs have 4th best odds. That's just sad. Literally handed a cheat code core in 2018 and we still don't stand out among the best.

Kuch and Point back to 100% can't beat the Habs tonight. Shutup with the 2018 nonsense, not qorth commenting on it's so stupid.

When a "contender" is getting blown out, it's always interesting to see how they respond. Teams like Tampa, Boston get hostile and desperate because they feel like they're getting embarrassed. Tampa's always good for a temper tantrum or two from their stars.

Toronto just sits back shell shocked. No pulse or response. Imagine what a guy like Acciari is thinking lol.

Last year game 7 I was begging him to stack the lines. JT, Matthews and Marner together after we were down 2-1
Vasi wouldnt' give up an easy one

Dude just doesnt' adjust mid game. Whatever he decies pre-game that's what he goes with

I do not understand the decision to play Samsonov. Keefe said he’s not 100% and his wife is due any day now. Just inexplicable really.

Hopefully this is a wake up call. The Islander’s brought playoff style hockey and we didn’t measure up in any way. Luckily Tampa lost too.

It still feels like if we are going to win, it’s going to be in spite of Keefe, not because of him.

On to the next one. Can’t wait for these meh games to come to an end.
