Didn't watch tonight, but lately they've been nearly unwatchable.

Since the deadline they've been less than impressive.

Last 10 they are the same as the Jets.
Agreed. The team has basically been a mess since the deadline. I bet thins isn’t what Dubas was expecting when he was out playing let’s make a deal

Keefe needs to just needs to go back to basics and put the Big 4 together in whatever pairing suits and pad out a 3rd and 4th line of lesser lights, put Rielly Brodie together, then assemble the next most trusted D pair, and the one after that. Don't have to use every crayon all at once.

the stupidity of his coaching is not spreading offense with ROR was playing but stacking top 2 lines; now that ROR is out he is running 3 lines; it should have been the other way around.

just 12 games to go with 8 away and 4 home; not sure what keefe is going to figure out in these 12 remaining games that he already doesn't know.

What should we be?

I’m pretty sure their 2 recent cups have eased their feeling a little bit just like our almost 20 years of not even making the second round has pushed us the other way.
I dont understand why posters keep bringing Tampa into this like the leafs and Tampa are the same.... 3 cup finals in a row, won back to back Cups, they are winners and get the benefit of the doubt, while we cant even get out of a first round..... comparing us to Tampa is a joke at this point!

What message does it send to a team weeks before the playoffs when the coach is still juggling his lines and pairings? And I don't mean a little here and there, but borderline pathologically.

It's not "Oh, he's just trying out different combinations to see what works", it's either "he has no idea what he's doing" or just showing a complete lack of confidence in his team. I'd offer both are true, and the team's play seems to dictate it.

And not that it's all on Keefe, but Dubas making all these moves at the deadline to give the team depth at forward and on the blueline were required because he didn't address those things well enough (really, at all) in the off-season.

Now Keefe is scrambling to try and see how to fit rentals into the lineup, but instead of just going on what should work he seems intent on trying every combination possible for 2 games, then even if it works, rotate everyone again. Crazy.

It’s just one game, so it’s not worth panicking over, bad games happen… but man, that was just pathetic. They really need to be better than this if they expect success. We can point fingers in many directions… Matthews, Kerfoot, Jarnkrok didn’t work… 0.786 from Samsanov… ouch. Just bad.

Not to mention there main addition of ROR has been hurt the past 3 weeks, pushes everyone in their rightful spot. Team is just playing low eventful hockey and hopes it translate into playoff success.

I hear ya...

Either coach comes out and says "i am doing experiment to see what works and what doesnt; don't look at the result"
OR
stop saying the offense didn't show up. If offense continues to not show up even in teh playoffs then as a coach wtf r u gonna do?

Good to see at least somebody on the Leafs is pissed off like some (or most?) of us

And yet he was one of the better Leafs in the game, especially when playing with Lafferty and McMann.

McMann the only plus player, and Kerfoot, Lafferty, and Nylander the only other forwards who weren't minus.

Another brutal game by JT, more bad passes by Mitch, the D giving up the puck regularly, and an injured goalie with more important things on his mind having an off day.

Get the chemistry thing sorted out. These bad losses are getting a bit much late in the season. Figure out the lines and get ready for the playoffs.

They played poop hockey today. Blaming Keefe for their effort is ridiculous. But, hey, this is Leafland after a loss. Carry on.

Didn’t watch since Lilly cough up the 2nd goal while made a great play seconds before that as I had dinner plans. Anyone want to give me review without hot takes, thanks.

I'm not panicking either but I do think this is more than just one bad game

We've had some good performances (like Carolina) but we've also been pretty average over most of our games and our advanced numbers have really dropped off

I think we need to settle on a lineup and start playing guys together consistently, were lacking chemistry throughout the lineup

Hot takes are easy.
Our goalie who had minor injuries to let rest and oh, a baby coming soon couldn't play in Ottawa but can play in NY....still no baby. And oh, the other goalie who is trying to get into shape cannot possibly play 2 in a row, with rest in between, and oh, the 1 goalie not waiting for a baby or injured is sent back down. So the rest of the team figures, coach does not think game is important, so neither do we.
Keefe loves New York so he wears his Dino the dinosaur suit and players are embarrassed.
Has nobody told him Studio 54 is closed, and so is Caroline's Comedy Club.
Reilly should have stayed home and tried to make a baby.

Prediction...it will be impressive if we play .500 hockey from here to end of season.
Not since John Brophy has a coach had such negative affect on the Leafs.

Good to see Acciari stand in there with Martin. Poor showing in the fight, but he stepped out of his weight class to go out with some push back.

Lots of bad plays and bounces tonight. The one that stung the most was the Liljegren whiff. After that one went in things kind of got out of hand. Liljegren did good to bump the Islander player off the puck before giving it back to him. A deflating play.

So disappointing. It's the same bad plays over and over. It looks different from years past but the results are the same. I hope O'Rielly is 100% come playoffs because you can't argue the facts, this core has been unable to lead this team to playoff success and the constant embarassing loses don't instill confidence.

Only thing to do is shut these guys off till the post season and then come back and judge based on their R1 performance. Everything else matters very little.

Great game to miss so I’m glad I had to work most of it and not get pumped to watch only to be left disappointed again. Tuned in to watch the Marner goal only to watch his terrible pass that lead to the clutterbuck goal followed quickly by the 5th goal and that was that.

im still holding out hope O’Reilly can elevate this heartless team in the playoffs with his leadership, toughness, and tenacity … because without him (and maybe Acciari) this team is who we thought they are, gutless choking losers plain and simple
I absolutely hate that we went out and got a legit top 6 big name GOD DAMN PLAYER and he injures himself with a GOD DAMN WEEK of being here. There is nothing more Leaf than that, other than losing to a last place team, its the damn leafs curse.

The man should be playing, building chemistry with his line mates, but nope, here we are watching Keefe put a round peg in a square hole over and over again.

I hope when he comes back the simplicity of where everyone should be sets in.

I'm just frustrated boys, I'm tired of looking forward to next year.

This years gotta be the one, for something great, because my passion has been dwindling little by little year by year with this team. Its the team of "there's always something" can we just get a god damn 0-60 effort every game? Jekyll and hyde is getting to frustrating to even care about anymore.

All in this season. Let's let the stars align. Big O coming to save the day.
