Pretty brutal, hoping the best for Andrei and his recovery.

Reading between the lines, I’m guessing he partially tore the ACL and they’re going the surgery rather than rehab route, but I’m no doctor

I would have said yes about Tro as he was/is a legit 2C on a contender. As I mentioned in my response to Anton about Patches, I was thinking he was truly a middle-six guy given his injury history and age, but I am willing to let someone arbitrate on a situation like that.

Ah, I missed your reply to Anton as I had the reply window open but stepped away in the meantime. How does this sound for terms?

Stakes: 250 Sportsbook points. [I arbitrarily picked 25% of how many we have, I'm open to a different amount. Do you know how that works, if it's even logistically possible to transfer them to another member? And if they're worth anything other than pride, lol?]

Wager: the Borg brings in a legit top 6 forward this summer. Must reasonably qualify as a current top 6 on a non-dumpster fire team. A clear upgrade to our top 6 counts if one of our current top 6 goes back in a trade. E.g., say we send Turbo back as part of a package for someone like Lindholm, or something along the lines of if Necas as a base for Tkachuk had gone through last summer.

Pre agreed arbitrator [DaveG?] to rule if there is disagreement.

Thoughts?

Done. I hope you enjoy the 250 points.

I see what you did there, lol.

@DaveG : you willing to act as arbitrator if necessary? (I actually think it will be clear either way)

Sigh. I was thinking the other day "Damn, the team has been so lucky on the injury front overall (not including Patches)"

Fall to 2nd place, get swept by Rangers incoming

I'm already preparing for the "Andre is our 'trade deadline acquisition' this year" talk from the front office when we do the usual "we like our group" in the summer.

This.

I sure hope they do the surgery right. Not like patches

ACLs though, he's older, and came back pretty quick from that. A lot of variables but the team has a substantial investment in Svech, so I'm sure they're taking every precaution possible. They consulted "global experts" before opting for surgery. I don't even know what that means like they called the foremost doctors in ACL diagnosis or something, but it seems like a good start.

I mean is this even possible? Because sure I guess lol
I have no idea. We all start with $1,000 Sportsbook cash, does anyone even know what you can do with it? But if we can't move $250 SB cash to the winner: @MinJaBen, what if the loser has to post in the main HF26 Canes hockey thread that the winner was right and is therefore obviously much smarter than himself? That would hurt more than losing the SB cash, lol.

Poor Svech. Plays almost a whole season and gets injured long term shortly before the playoffs even start. I feel bad for him. This team's luck this season with injuries has been truly f***ing brutal.

Not sure if you're legit asking that, or making some sort of joke?

He wouldn't be my preference compared to a couple of other players, but he's better than nothing depending on the price.
I am asking that. He’s an RFA with a QO of $9m …. But I can’t imagine him getting more than any Senator locked in at forward (Tkachuk, Stutzle, Norris).

I could see him thriving in the Canes’ skate-skate-skate system.

Oh man, that's rough. What's the timeline for him to fully heal? Tre White, an NFL player, tore his in 2021, and he didnt look the same even a year later. Hopefully, it's not the same for Svechnikov.

8-9 months is pretty standard I think to being back on the ice at/near full level. How much longer to get up to speed/back to normal for him is impossible to say.

Unless he is the NHL version of Adrian Peterson and starts running over people in 6 months.

"performed by Dr. Marty Isbell of Raleigh Orthopaedic"

Ok, not Turku then.
For those that like to know details....a couple of pathways to get a graft....I wonder which body part Dr Isbell will draw from:

Sorry to hear about Svechnikov. I feel so bad for the kid, it would be heartbreaking for him.
I know it doesn’t help , but Tampa made it far without Point last year and he is a massive piece for them.
Canes are deep enough and the best coached and structured team in the league . I can see them still winning the Metro and give whoever comes out of the Atlantic a handful even without Svechnikov.

I have to think PTG if it’s thought to be the most successful/reliable. Plus at this point there is no need to rush and they can take the longer recovery time for better results.

My doctor recommended hamstring for my surgery about 10 years ago or so. Only a little less flexibility with that knee but no noticeable loss that I can tell while playing sports to this point.

That puts his timeline on a return to maybe being back this calendar year, but most likely next.

That's just not at all good. It's going to necessitate us making a move this summer or our playoff picture could get muddy. Svech was extremely important to facilitating the style of hockey we play and spreading out whatever little offensive attack we had across 2 lines instead of 1. And he was by far our most physical player. Without him, our offensive attack is thin at best, and arguably one of the worst in the playoffs field, and overall one of the least physical teams in the league. Not exactly a recipe for success either this year or next.

Well, if the Borg had shot their wad on a big move this trade deadline, it probably wouldn’t have effected Svetch getting hurt (unless extreme butterfly effect). At least those assets are in the cupboard for next year. Not giving up, but ah…this might be the Bruins year anyway. Whoever gets through the East will deserve it.
