That puts his timeline on a return to maybe being back this calendar year, but most likely next.

That's just not at all good. It's going to necessitate us making a move this summer or our playoff picture could get muddy. Svech was extremely important to facilitating the style of hockey we play and spreading out whatever little offensive attack we had across 2 lines instead of 1. And he was by far our most physical player. Without him, our offensive attack is thin at best, and arguably one of the worst in the playoffs field, and overall one of the least physical teams in the league. Not exactly a recipe for success either this year or next.

Probably best to expect the worst, instead of being so positive.

Well, if the Borg had shot their wad on a big move this trade deadline, it probably wouldn’t have effected Svetch getting hurt (unless extreme butterfly effect). At least those assets are in the cupboard for next year. Not giving up, but ah…this might be the Bruins year anyway. Whoever gets through the East will deserve it.
In hindsight, it wouldn't have been worth it for a rental, but it really is exposing how thin our offensive attack really is. We are going to need to swing BIG for a longer term fix up front to help mitigate the SPOF potential this roster might have.

We have a lot of depth, but nobody that an opponent can point to and say they must account for every time he's on the ice. Svech was probably the closest player we had to that. We need another.

I sure hope they do the surgery right. Not like patches
Who’s to say MaxPac’s surgery wasn’t performed well? If someone chooses to rush back from an operation it doesn’t necessarily reflect poorly on the surgeon.

I think we were all surprised by how quickly he made his return compared to Duclair who was injured earlier and returned later.

I think we will get an idea how this team plays without Svechnikov down the stretch and in the playoffs. If they win the division and/or win a series against the Rangers, I think it's reasonable to say they can tread water until Svech gets back next season, maybe with some additional depth.

I think there is definitely a plan to use some of the cap space next year to bring in some expiring contracts (Lindholm, Toffoli, Reinhart, Henrique, etc.) who can bolster the forward ranks as well as a goalie to be in tandem with Kochetkov. With the exception of the goalie, they probably want to keep 24-25 clear until they have Aho signed at a minimum.

I thought I read something that the Finnish doctor alluded to something about the surgery wasn't performed well. Maybe I'm misremembering.

Well if you listen to Joe Giglio on 99.9 there is no chance of us signing Aho. He's convinced he is as good as already gone

Do you know if it was performed by Isbell?
No idea.

I looked back and this was the comment I was referring to.

"LEMPAINEN says that rehabilitation is monitored in stages. I told him that at least 8-9 months is the time for him to be fit to play. It's a different thing to play baseball after six months than to be in an NHL bowl.

Lempainen emphasizes that Pacioretty's case was different now. It was a recurrence of the same injury and the first surgery may not have been successful enough."

We must remember that the statement by Lempainen wasn't a direct quote, but it was filtered into the article text by and through a reporter. It's very daring speculation to go and confer anything specific from such an article.

I refused to believe your explanation.

Perhaps we won’t be first in the Division but I could still see a competitive team with Jarvis, necas, JK and hopefully pool party improving by next year.

downside will be an older D and G questions.

Isabell’s bio doesnt indicate that he does Achilles. Usually you go to a specialist that has that particular area as their focus.

Rule of thumb with surgeries…always go with a specialist that has a good rep + has done the surgeries a significant number of times.

2 reasons to still be optimistic about this years playoffs.

1. 2019 Svech very unwisely picks a fight with Ovi and is out for the remainder of that series and all but 1 game of the following Canes make the ECF.

2. I know its a different sport but the 2016 Indians lose most of their starting rotation and trot out their Ace Corey Kluber, a at the time unpredictable mid starter in Trevor Bauer and a rotating 5th starter in Josh Tomlinson. Bayer screws around with a drone and misses a few games and the Indians lose the WS in extra innings.

All is not lost. While I feel terrible for Svech to miss this for him on a personal level and will surely miss his production. This team is good and well coached its not out of the realm of reality that one of the 3 net minders goes next level and the skaters still have enough fire power to win games.

For the bettors I'm sure our odds just got stupid, time to put a wager in in the Canes to take it all!
